If you like progressive stuff I highly recommend checking out Queensryche, Dream Theater, Rush, Genesis, UFO, etc.
This is about all the metal I can stand these days. (in before "it's not even metal >:(")
There are so many great bands. But I'm not going to tell you what to like anyway. Up to you man.
Pretty sure Rush and Genesis are not metal. Just sayin'.

Rush? As in the band from Trailer park boys? The one with songs about sunshine and stuff? Yeah, they are not metal. As a more classic rock and jazz fan, metal is not my gig. Just too messy and unorganized.
I don't see how it's messy and unorganized. Unless you're meaning some crappy, local Metal band, then you shouldn't judge it all based on a few crappy bands. Because Metal is FAR from being unorganized. If done right, it's a perfect case of being organized and clean.

They are one of the death metal bands I listen, since they are the only ones which I can understand, since the rest are more like : BLAAAAAAARGH.... and so on and so on...
However, I like power metal more, like Sabaton, Dream Evil etc.
Iced Earth is good too :)

Arch Enemy was the best metal concert I've ever been to. They totally went off from their regular material and played shit that isn't on any of their albums. Some cool extra long intros, endings, middles... they were just phenomenal. Not my favorite band or anything, but they have their good stuff (plus they helped get Soilwork signed, so ++++++++++).
