THOSE ASPECTS IN GAMING YOU'VE ALWAYS WONDERED ABOUT?

- Why are guns almost always portrayed as weaker than melee weapons.
If only we could head shot the last boss.

- Final boss end summons and the like that destroys the world several times over, but only numeral damage is the end result. Sure, let's say you're sent to a pocket dimension for a moment. But I'd say you still wouldn't survive getting thrown into the sun.

Adam Smith's revenge:

When faced with the impending apocalypse, late-game RPG vendors will still seek maximum profit from the hero, even though the hero's failure would ensure certain death.

This is also true in reality.
never understood why my sim could never overpass a dirty dish, that's a mistery that still bothers me at my sleep

When, in the span of human civilization, has the end of the world been a scientific certainty, and a small band of heroes been the only hope?
-An RPG about deeper psychological intrigue (or some other non-saving the world premise) that promises not to turn characters in demigods, but the game mechanics end up suggesting otherwise.

Guns are worthless. Also implausible fencing powers and the rule of cool.

...I'm probably going to burn in hell for this post.

I'm only surprised it took till page 2 for this thread to get invaded by tropes.

- Why are there no bathrooms in most RPGs' houses?

RPG characters don't have buttholes, and either use their genitals only for sex, or don't have genitals.

Well, then again, if the game didn't let you casually walk into various houses, how are you supposed to even figure whether or not they even do have restrooms?

They use those pots you keep sticking your hands in looking for loot.

Why does any game stop me from jumping? Even if it's fruitless, I want to jump.
Why is it that in RPGs all libraries are required to face their bookshelves south?
Why does the main character almost always have a sword or knife?

Why does the hero have to always die in the end... sleep...(Arc Rise Fantasia)
Why are characters in their thirties called 'old man'?

Why do NPCs repeat themselves more often than Power Rangers?

Why do your allies get SUDDENLY stronger the second they leave your side and try to kill you, then revert back to 'weak mode' when you convince them the error of their ways (invariably via the incontrovertible arse-whooping method).

Why does nobody comment on the random glowing/floating objects in the middle of your town that allow you to create a back-up version of yourself to continue from every time someone sticks a sword in you? And why don't the bad guys use one?

Why a crappy minigame has to be done in order to unlock some ultimate weapon?
And on top of that, how does a casino or amusement park own a legendary sword or other legendary gadgets?

Also, if the characters can die in battles but be resurrected with Phoenix Downs or stuff like that, why some characters die canonically and resurrecting them is impossible even with a majyyck voodoo pedophile widget known as Phoenix Down? Same applies for villains. Why the heck they never come up with the idea of resurrecting the villain who was slain by the heroes with a phoenix down?

Oh, and then there's the matter of healing and reviving. Resting at inn = health recovery, commonplace healing methods not being used on NPCs or the villain despite being spammed halfway to oblivion by the player characters, and only being considered dead for good when the plot says so.

@Nightowl: I already mentioned that, thank you.

Also, buying 99 potions and swords from a shop, and said shop keeps right on selling the damn things. Trying explaining that one.

In a lot of games Phoenix Downs aren't meant to uh, cure death. KO, unconsciousness, wounds, yeah, but not death.
In regards to side-quests, the things that the NPCs offering said requests tell you about, like a monster or some rare treasure, only show up when you talk to the designated NPC and not beforehand. Care to explain how that works again?

And while we're at it, how about shopkeepers not offering discounts to the player character even when he/she does something that would actually warrant them, like, I don't know, saving the damn landscape from whatever it is that's causing havoc amongst the general populace.

Why games have towns where Inns and Save crystals which do the same thing. I mean, you're obviously going to choose the crystal. Savepointsandhealzyesplz.
