CloseRight now, I'm philosophizing about the meaning and worth of 'happiness'.
Happiness, I define by the drive behind all human actions, as it is what everyone is looking for, in some way. But with the rapid advancement of neurology, the things that make one 'happy' could be altered though rerouting the brain. This is what has me puzzled because it completely forces me to rethink the definition of words like 'good'.
Normally, I define good as 'everything that increases human happiness'. Thus, something that increases the happiness of a person is 'good' (e.g. giving food to someone in great hunger), I would consider good. But what about changing the person's requisites for achieving happiness (like rerouting said person to make him not require food to be happy anymore)...? Adjusting someone's needs to make them easy to meet would yield just as much happiness as carefully providing for their natural needs, so which form of happiness is better.
