Wow, I go away for a week and you guys get entertaining. That was an interesting read over the last 7 pages.
My thoughts.
How does ignore list work, by the way? Do you use them?
For me, they are not particularly interesting choice in any way.
Ignore is pretty easy. You click on someone's name, then click Ignore.
In Account you can change the settings a bit. By default people are set to not even show up for you. You can change that to having their post show up, but be under a hide tag (that way, if you're interested in a certain conversation and someone responds to an interesting point they made or something of the like, you can just click the hide button and see what they said, but it'll only work for that one post.)
You can also delete them off the list if you want.
Oh, and hide PMs they send you so that you never see them.

I've never ignored anyone here. Ok that's not right, I've never clicked the ignore button on anyone's name, but I have chosen to ignore what they are saying and not respond to them. I did come close with one member, but in the end I realised that they were very young and subsequently immature so I just avoided them, and will continue to do so for the next few years until they grow up.
I do like the ultimate sanction of the ignore button though. Hopefully it will never come to the stage that I feel I need to use it.

No matter how pissed off I may get, I'll never use it either, though I've been sorely tempted in the past.
I've never used the function either. I'm very, very hard to anger and I'm not the kind of person that will ignore someone out of spite, even though there have been some instances ( not within the RM community though ) that I have been tempted to use the ignore button for extremely irritating fan-girls. :/

Throwing someone on an ignore list has always felt like the easy way out for me. It's essentially saying "I can't take what you say and I never will so I'm going to erase you from my personal existence" when the most severe cases I've seen are trivial at best. If there's serious harassment (PMing death/rape threats), it should result in a suspension or ban instead of allowing it to happen and turning a blind eye to let the other guy take the burden.
We've all got off-days and beliefs that don't line up, but that's no reason to put yourself in a safety bubble.

I use it, but I have it so that I can view peoples' posts if I need to. And, yeah, some people are on my list atm. Like... six. Two are about to graduate from it if they keep not being idiots, though! :DDD

Yeah, the existence of these sort of people is exactly why the Ignore function is really great. I haven't had to use it until recently, but it makes life sooo much nicer ^_^
