I like FFVI. It's a good game. I don't see how it holds up to modern-day works at all.
Someone else will invariably articulate it better than I could. But FFVI just hit me like a lot of modern works didn't, and still don't. It has a style, an aesthetic, a feel, a sound, a story, that just resonates. It's like a dramatic opera come to life. It's just so well put together.

No I played it. It's good. It's a fun game! For some reason of another though it just doesn't grip me like FFVI did. Perhaps it's because I couldn't really give a shit (or more gently, don't have a particular interest) in Japanese youth culture.
I mean it's good on its own merits. Yeah. Sure. In my opinion though, does it have a better aesthetic, sound, and emotional grip like FFVI did? No, at least not to me. It's the same reason why I enjoy Persona, but not in particular. It's a good game. I just don't care for anime-eqsue schoolchildren in pseudo Japan or whatever. I just don't care for it. I'm almost sick of seeing it.

Also TWEWY was fun but I remember nothing of the story or characters. Except Joshua was totally gay.
