Noticing I'm becoming depressed again, not enjoying anything I do... This blows.
Then just do something that makes you happy. That sounds overly simple, but thinking about being depressed only makes you more depressed really.

So why don't you guys start featuring interesting looking games instead of "holy christ the balance is perfect!!!" or rtp comedy games?

I don't know, feature something special, as it stands, new people will just come on this site, see the featured game and think "wow, what a bunch of amateurs" then leave.
yes yes yes. 99% of the traffic, from what I hear, comes through the site and never touches the forums. that means there is an immense number of people for whom the featured game is the one and only impression of the site they ever get. that big screenshot and synopsis front and center on the main page should be of vital importance to the site's health. the game up there needs to be a representation of the finest quality rmn is capable of. (ended sentence with preposition!) it should not be changed lightly i m o.
2011 the reconstruction featured game every month

It already was featured! And the pacing goes to hell after the intro, sadly. Wonderful idea that desperately wants you to not play it.
I only found it because it was featured :(

(I don't remember pacing issues but it has been ages since I played it, maybe I should play other games to suggest as future featured games play it again)

After the awesome intro/prologue, the game drops dead in its tracks. Karsu and I both set it aside after a few missions.
Shit, I don't remember that and I'm pretty sure I beat it. I can't have nostalgiagoggles on for a game I played what? A year ago? :(((

You are reduced from SWASHBUCKLING SEA ADVENTURES to... fighting beetles and picking herbs. For, like, five missions. Maybe more. I stopped. Also, the dialogue got mediocre - each character was exceedingly one-dimensional, like offensively so. And there was too much dialogue (or maybe it was only because I didn't like it).

The Reconstruction had some great ideas, butttttt :<

I played too much Civ2 as a kid. Well, that's not true. I played too much Alpha Centauri - not that I had any idea what I was doing in either.
... if I can ask out my week brightener Alexis. She works at Blockbuster. I've seen her every week for at least 3 years. We don't talk except for business, I give her my card, she checks out my movie. Last week I commented that she changed her hair back to her normal color. It was the first time i had seen her in a month. now this week she actually said hi how are you when she's never asked. we had a conversation about stuff.

How to win EU3

1) Beat up France
2) You win! The rest of the game is whack a rebel and beating up whoever looks at you funny

Once you play as Milan and beat France+Austria+Naples in one war you automatically win advance straight to Victoria

(Then they made the AI less stupid in Hier to the Throne and my strategy of "set my own country on fire" doesn't work so well anymore. Now you abuse tradition and get Super Star generals!)
yeah when i am defending my cities from tanks using musketeers i tend not to think of indepth

p.s. scorched earth is the best strategy
I knew there was a name for it!
