Okay... for starters, it wasn't as dumb as I thought. It was a fun ride that without question, brought Arnold back to the big screen.
There was explosions, lots of blank rounds being fired, a real bad guy to bring down, and plenty of chumps to stand in the way of said blank rounds. Let's not forget zingers.
On that last note, let's examine what was WRONG with The Last Stand...
The Zingers. It became quickly obvious that the director is fit for TV crime drama. NOT Action Comedy. Whenever someone tried to sling a one-liner, someone else said something to shoot it down, or the character kept talking. There was no "baddum-ch" moment. Examples:
Someone said, "How are you, ?"
Arnold says, "Old."
And that should be it. Nope.
Someone continues, "Oh, I don't know, you seem to have a few more years left."
What starts as a zinger continues into a conversation about how Arnold's movie career is back in motion. Yippy.
There was a funny Conan the Barbarian reference that was shoveled out of the way in a similar fashion.
If this had taken itself more seriously, the movie could have been a good action flick. Instead it seemed to struggle with deciding what it was.
I actually call bogus on the director for this. There were many points where I had myself taking a critical eye on the film making, rather than the film as it played out. Some cold cuts were so "tv" that my untrained eye was losing interest in the story.
Another gripe I had was the action. There was a good deal of action revolving around the bad guy, and next to nothing for Arnold. In fact, you could have put anyone in Arnold's role. Seriously, give it to one of the dead guys in Grumpy Old Men (if they were alive) or Andy Dick even.
Maybe I've been spoiled lately with Expendables and other Stallone flicks of late. Either way, the action here was pretty yawners.

All that aside, and it probably at this point sounds like I didn't like the movie. Contrary-wise! It was fun! I had an enjoyable time, and have to hand it to Johnny Knoxville's character for have some of the best bits in the film.

Long story short, rent it. If you really need to go to the theatres, wait a week for Movie 43 or check out Gangster Squad.

So a book fell on top of my model kits and knocked them over. After removing the offending object from the area and cleaning up the mess, I took my recently assembled display base and used it to arrange things into a fight scene. Now every time I enter my room, I have to stpo for a few seconds to look at it and admire it. I think I may be a bit too proud of my work.

Only 9 hours until leaving to Hawaii. Perfect time to start watching Charlie's Angels.
