@Linkis: I don't delete posts willy-nilly. Only about 3 times have I deleted a post that wasn't a spambot, and I gave fair warning before-hand that I would do so if the poster/s did post certain things. I've only ever even touched others' posts in the name of fun (like with the >.<)b additions a while back), moderation (and that was to either remove spam/advertising links or insert hide tags - in the case of flaming we prefer that part of the apology process is fixing your own posts to show remorse for going off the edge. In the case someone is banned for a post and it has hate speech in it, those words would be removed but that's about all) or fixing (adding the correct tags for an image/video). Otherwise peoples' posts are their own.

As to the game, like I said - when certain words pop up in descriptions I send a PM to the creator and ask about said things. Some things we don't allow on the site - gratuitous sexual content, detailed violence and rape and the like. This is because we have rules against certain content. For example, there was one game that was extremely sexually-ridden that we couldn't let on because it was basically pornography. H-games with naked CG images? Not allowed. There are sites that do allow that kind of thing but we're not one of them.

I did check with the creator of Hawkman before allowing it on the site and he told me that there was one mention of rape (the troll thing on the mountain) and that he'd tag the game appropriately. He did say there was some sexual content but he did not mention that it was what people reported and thus I'm checking the game myself so that I can either ask him to remove the game (in the case of too much/too badly handled/gratuitous/etc content - breaking of site rules) or tag appropriately (from the sounds of it the guy doesn't consider having sex with a woman who is sleeping/unconscious as the rape it is).

We'll see how that goes but that is between me and he (and maybe some of the other staff).

Swearing is generally allowed. It's when you make personal attacks that the rules kick in. Generally, don't be an ass to people, attack ideas not people and don't flame and there shouldn't be an issue. Of course, there are things like hate speech that isn't allowed, too, and pornography, but that's a given.

So, for example, I can say 'this game is complete and utter shit and I think it should be dragged into the street and shot over and over again with a .44 magnum because it's a complete fucking pile of puke' and that's okay - I mean, it's mean to say that about someone's hard work, but it's still allowed. But saying that about a person is completely different. Or going on a hate-filled rant about x group of people. Or linking images to sexually explicit material (except when it comes to certain topics like art ones and the like - really, it's about context sometimes).

Honestly, it's a case-by-case judgement call. Certain types of adult content is allowed - we've always allowed it, in fact. You might be thinking of RMW, who are very careful about what is and is not allowed on their site due to them being an official site. We're quite flexible in how adult stuff goes on the site because most of us are adults.

Linkis, as one of those people who have got your dander up, allow me to respond. It isn't the content of the game that is the problem that was brought to Liberty's attention; it is that if that content is in the game it needs to be signposted.

And it is in the game.

Here's a primer for you Linkis, rape is sex without consent. Just that, rape is a lot of other things but at its base it is sex without consent. I have not played the game but if the reports of Hawkman having sex with a sleeping/unconscious woman are in the game that is rape. She can't consent if she's not awake.

What I have seen is the trailer, and in it is a clear indication of rape in the brothel, just because a prostitute agrees to have sex with one person does not automatically make her free game to anyone who walks in the room. Or as in the case of this game, storms into the room, tears away her client and takes his place. It reinforces a dangerous myth, that a sex worker can't be raped. It also seems to indicate that she is actually a nymphomaniac, because of course there is no other reason to be a prostitute, or to use the word that the developer prefers, whore.

Substitute the location to a family home with a committed couple in the privacy of their bedroom and then play out what Hawkman does, is it rape now?

The fact the women 'thanked him afterwards' ties into another myth; that is if you 'enjoyed it' in other words if you orgasmed, it's not rape. It is rape.

The problem that has been pointed out is not with the worth or lack thereof of the game, but in the fact it was not signposted as containing scenes, and a fade to black with dialogue is still a scene it's just not a visual one, in which these events take place.

But even if they didn't, even if Hawkman didn't go around debauching himself at every opportunity, the necrophiliac sodomising Ice Orc that acts on his threats as evidenced by the body of the raped warrior at the foot of his lair is enough to add a disclaimer (albeit a subtle one) in the description. It isn't just a threat, soldiers have been yelling that one across the battlefields for millennia, it's the fact that the threat is then carried out.

Now please point out where in any of this post or indeed in any of my posts over the last seven years I've had a potty mouth, so you can therefore dismiss my opinions as without merit. Oh and don't resort to 'ooh nhubi sorry it was just a joke'. It really isn't.
