CloseAbout the Sandra Bland case, we have to consider mental illness being a prime motivator for her hanging.
"During a press conference Thursday, Texas prosecutor Warren Diepraam said that examiners found no indications of defensive injuries on Bland’s boday, but did find at least 30 cuts on her wrists that may have been made between two and four weeks ago, marijuana in her system, and “uniform and consistent“ marks indicating that she hung herself, as Waller County officials have said. They also emphasized that Bland reportedly had a history of mental illness. Though a video of Bland discussing her PTSD and depression seemingly confirms this, her family disputes the extent to which she struggled with them."
"Documents obtained by KPRC 2 News show that Bland told Waller County jailers she had tried to kill herself using pills after she lost a baby in 2014. But Bland's family says there is "no evidence" that she previously attempted suicide."
Another link. The family says that she wouldn't have been the kind to kill herself, but mental illness has a strange way of disguising itself. This is likely the case of a sufferer pushed to their breaking point (her own illnesses mixed with her exposure to activism fueling a pessimistic view of the world) with no other perceivable way out except death. What should've been done was put her on suicide watch, to which I blame the failing to do so firmly on the jail staff.
She could've seen herself as someone who's overcome the odds but had then fallen victim to the white-on-black systemic racism she devoted to fight against. It's not hard to believe that would be enough to take all the wind of out one's sails.

police brutality isn't anything new, and it's getting worse each year here :(
yet so many people coddle to police and say things like "my daddy is a police officer and he loves me" or try to blame the victims of these assaults. people who understate or deny police brutality in america and elsewhere deserve no respect in that opinion in my eyes.
even chicago pride had a little police march thing... as if everyone forgot that police have been harassing and killing lgbtq+ & people of color for decades...
It also doesn't help that the Chicago PD and the court system has always been owned by the mob. People, don't delude yourselves into thinking that shit ended with Al Capone.
@Corfaisus, when you put it that way, I can see how a simple traffic stop can turn into suicide, especially when you see just how nasty and repulsive the cop on that video added. Even Donald Trump thought that cop was an asshole, and Donald Trump is the supreme leader of assholes.

Considering the anger this topic creates and the fact we have already had a thread closed do to that anger, maybe it would be a good idea to drop it because some of us are not willing to consider that there is another side to this story.
Well, here's a new one for me....what I'm thinking :)
Had a microsoft mouse with a back button and it looked like it was getting old and becoming very erratic.
So, I bought a brandy new Logitec.....which is also acting erratic....
guess I can't expect much from a cheap mouse.
Maybe I will have to go back to the mouse with a long tail that hooks up to the back of my computer :(

If it's a laser mouse, of course it is, the surface you are using it on may cause it move erratically. Wireless mice are kinda pointless unless you are far away from your tower. Why waste batteries for no reason?

I always go for wired USB, even for when im using a laptop and on the go.
Same, I much preferred wired over wireless. You never have to worry about battery life or bad connections (unless you're using the poor mouse wrong).
Another thing to make sure of is that you get one with a decent cord; those itsy bitsy retractable usb mice are terrible at times.

I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

I think it's only the crappy ones (and the bluetooth ones) that waste batteries. I have a Logitech M705 wireless mouse, and the pair of AA batteries in it has lasted four years so far. The box it came in suggested replacing the batteries every six years or so. It's got an on/off switch to save battery life, but I've never turned it off even once. I spend fifteen hours a day at my computer, so I expected this thing to not only have gone through a million batteries but have crumbed into a mound of dust by now. Amazingly it's still in good shape.
Also, Linkis, it sounds like what you need is a new mousepad.
I'm thinking I should learn how to mod Skyrim to have turn-based, menu-driven combat instead of being an action RPG.

@LockeZ, I would at least open that mouse and make sure those batteries aren't leaking. Most brands don't last that long, even if what's using them doesn't take that much power.
Speaking of which, I prefer wired, too. Had a MacBook. Hated it. Also, I know all about erratic laser mice and still prefer them over the dirty BS rolly ball.

Another thing to make sure of is that you get one with a decent cord; those itsy bitsy retractable usb mice are terrible at times.

I've got one of those that has lasted for a while now. I've only recently noticed an issue with it that has more to do with the clicking than the cord. That said, they're pretty cheap to replace.
If you want a mouse that will last you forever, get one of the old ball-mice. I had one of those from 1998 til about 2012 and never had an issue with it (bar the cat chewing the cord).
Logitech MX518. The paint on the logo is getting weak, but works perfectly fine. Been in constant use for a couple of years, and will continue to do, haha.
