However if I had one criticism about Karsu's moderation is that I feel that he's sometimes too hasty in locking topics, and even when he moves them to Moronic, that's pretty pointless as well; if you're going to do that, why not just put them where they were?
All the topics I dump are pretty much unsalvageable. They are primarily filled with a bunch of arbitrary bickering. Left alone, the topics will simply continue the trend until they are either 1) locked by one of the
Locking the threads, sometimes a wee prematurely, is a good way of difusing potential shitfests. This is a game-making forum, not general chat. We don't need people hating eachother over so and so's taste in girls (see fetish topic or the anime girl topics for an example of this garbage), opinions on relationships or whatever.
Reopening threads was an experiment to see if people would cool down. Not much of a success.
There's two main reasons why this has been happening more than before:
1) Our members are a bunch of grumpy oldbies and newcomers with smart mouths. Both with strong opinions. Our average poster age is likely the highest of all rpgmaker communities.
2) Traffic has been increasing at a good pace, resulting in more posts than usual. You will notice that we are well past the 3,000 members mark now. The original resources/theft thread got big right quick.
As for SFL, I had to bug holb once and WIP a few times for him to get modship, but he eventually did. We need a new mod due to the traffic increase.
Man. You guys should be thank your lucky stars that Karsu is moderating here, unless you want it to turn into Something Awful, 4chan /b/, or other similar "LOL INTERNET" fests.

We're all here to make games first and foremost, but behind the games, we're all individuals with differing opinions, personalities, and worldviews. Naturally, as we all get to know each other, we're going to gravitate towards talking about our views on non game things here. Artificially dampening this just leads to bad news.

I'm thinking about how bad a moderator Karsuman is.
No moderator locks a topic because the opinions being expressed in it are controversial, they lock topics when someone has directly broken the rules or has done something so offensive that the topic has to be locked. Changing the forum in which a topic is stored is usually the better topic, as is splitting the topic into smaller chunks. It also doesn't help when said moderator is nepotistic as a fucking Giovanni vampire and locks the topic just because their friends have been offended. Basically, Max was right.

You claim one of Kars's friends got insulted. So can you tell me what insulted him?
Perhaps it was the part you told him he was illiterate? I don't recall "flaming Harmonic" to be that topic, do you? So yes, you did muck up the topic.

I'm thinking you're missing the irony of your statement, F-G. It equates to, "I made fun of some kid on the playground, so his dad picked him up and left." Who's in the right in that situation? You clearly understand that you were insulting someone's ability to read your arguments (which is also ironic because you ignored his), and you expect the moderator to let what was a decent enough discussion degenerate into name-calling?
I'm not saying I'd lock the topic and dump it, but I definitely would have called you out had I gotten there first.
