WHAT ARE YOU THINKING ABOUT RIGHT NOW?

I'm gonna say it again - get rid of the guns and the school shootings will disappear. I mean, seriously, it's stupid how people cling to their automatic weapons and cry about freedom to bear arms, meanwhile people are exercising their so-called freedom to bear arms in order to kill an alarming amount of people. It's just gonna keep happening and people are just gonna do the same thing 'Why are kids dying?' "You can't take our guns!"
Hey, guess what? You're not in the middle of a civil war any more, how about you put the outdated laws to rest, hm? Join the 21st Century, America. Or do something like Switzerland does instead. Because what you're currently doing (whining, wringing your hands, making excuses NOTHING) is just killing your kids more and more.
Sorry, but I'm just sick of hearing about it over and over again when the answer is pretty fucking simple and has been shown to work many, many times. I really feel sorry for any kids that go to school in America - their parents and the adults around them obviously don't give a fuck about their lives since they're choosing to keep the weapons that are used to kill them over the actual future generations. It's pathetic.

Well, to be fair, they gave California to an actor and bodybuilder, so... Not really surprised. Maybe instead of an Oscar they should make DiCaprio a Senator or something.
If you're going to go with an actor for the political job, go with the best.

HERE WE GO AGAIN :)
Being an actor or bodybuilder does not mean you are dumb and would stop them from doing a good job as a politician. In case you forgot, Ronald Reagan was a very good president. Gee, was he the man in office who helped bring down the Berlin Wall ??
I've seen an article two or three times in the past that gave the schooling/knowledge/IQ of several actors or people in sports.
I really was amazed at how smart some of them are.

These two articles came out on the same day. The juxtaposition here is stunning.
Also, how long has it been since the last school shooting in the States? A week? Less than a week?
Makes me fucking sick. It's a fucking failure of 'civilization' that this happens.
@PizzaFace :) don't be sick. You are talking "apples and oranges".
The shooting in Arizona took place in the early hours in a parking lot and was a confrontation between two groups of students.
What Ben Carson said????? Maybe he is right. Not saying he is but we really can't be sure since if the Jews had more weapons there MIGHT have been more resistance groups and harder to round up to be moved to the death camps.
I was not there so I really don't know if things might have worked out another way....
Shall we have another heated discussion ??? :)
lol, the last time we discussed guns the thread got locked. Same players, same arguments, same everything... Just a reminder. =P
This is exactly how I feel about painting. I used to paint a lot when I was younger. I used to love the smell of the oil paints and the sight of a blank canvas. But overtime this became more and more of a chore. And even after I switched the real thing for the practicality of digital painting, I find myself painting less and less each year. =_=
Besides, kids are mad talented these days, practically out of the womb. When you can barely compete anymore with the average DeviantArt user, you know it's time to go the way of the dodo. u_u

Probably the most depressing thing in my life is how I feel like I just get worse and worse at playing guitar. I slowly get less ambitious, and I feel the music less and less. One day, I'll just be stood there stone faced, and realize that this is the end of music for me.

Reaganomics has trickled anywhere but down, ballooned the deficit, created the failed/failing "War on Drugs", fought public-sector labor, greatly increased military spending, cut the budgets of Medicaid, food stamps, federal education programs and the EPA, widened the wealth gap (the source of so many social ills), escalated the Cold War (arms race anyone?), then there's the whole Iran–Contra scandal, and basically set the path for the USA to become increasingly regressive in its policies and culture.
But that's what you get when you have a corporitist masquerading as a conservative. Very much like Harper in Canada right now.
But at least he was a very good at pragmatic compromising, and would actually act with some integrity. Something politicians today should take note of.

That is one of the things I was trying to say...but few on this forum can discuss without getting angry...so Libby has to hit the "LOCK" button or get someone else to do it :)

So you agree that he was a good Pres.?? Can't tell if anyone running here is any better and some are worse :(
WAIT!!! You run this site...you're not allowed to have an opinion :)
Ya sure don't want Libby deleting your post :) hahahaha

Why would I delete posts? I only do that to spambots and as far as I'm aware, nobody in this thread is a spambot. I'm actually a bit insulted that you think anyone on staff would abuse that power in any way. You really like to poke at people and make mountains of molehills, don't you?
I'm also quite capable of locking threads, though I prefer not to - usually just to cool things down. Shutting down discussions is stupid unless they get too heated and people can't let go of shit. It's not something that happens every day like you're acting.
It's been done a small handful of times - twice in this thread of over 1000 pages. That's not much at all. And the second time was because not enough time had passed between the first lockage for tempers to cool, so it practically counts as only once since it was the same people pissing each other off over the same thing.
You really read a lot more into posts than what is there. The one you quoted, about DiCaprio was a joke as is obvious to most people who read it - you know, based on the whole set up of him not getting an Oscar and all. It's pretty apparent.

You can only use one switch - and have pages determine an on/off state. That is, if the switch is on the second page turns on and it's set to above character, but if the switch is off it's set below character on the first page.
Or use a tileset switch or tile switch. ^.^
...I've had to do this kind of thing before. XD
That said, one thing that is cool that you can do with the charaset version is, when you sail under it, have the bridge turn transparent in the over-water part (turn on/off at the edges) so that you can see yourself sail under the bridge. It's pretty effective~

I flat out said he was a terrible president. Being earnest and affable doesn't mean your decisions and ideas are good.

gees Liberty, lighten' up, stop hollern' at me :)
Of course you would not delete anyones post unless they were cussin' at and calling someone terrible things that would result in their being banned from the site anyway.
No, I don't believe you would ask someone to lock a thread for you.
That was a joke trying to say you a bunch of members sent you nasty messages so you begged another person to close a thread so you did not have to deal with all the horrible messages again.
I know you can do the job you chose to accept on this site. I have no problem with any moderator on RMN.
As for poking at people, YES, I will do that sometimes but will also use :) to let them know I am just kidding with them and not serious.
I know we've had this little talk before :)
And again YES, I knew the joke about DiCaprio was a joke. I don't follow the awards in hollywood so I did not get that part of the joke.
What I was trying to do was point out that some of those silly actors are really very, very smart and might make better politicians than the ones we have.
ON THE OTHER HAND:

You might be wrong on that one.
Switzerland population: 8.7 million
America population: 322 million
Switzerland has approx. 3 guns for every citizen.
It is extremely easy for Swiss people to also get semi-auto weapons so there MUST BE more to it than just banning guns.
Can you imagine the problem the U.S. would have with that many guns per citizen?
The U.S. is also just north of South America where all the drug cartels are.
We have 322 million people and the cartels are flooding the U.S. with drugs and guns.
Controlling either with a country this large is very, very hard.
Hopefully you will not tell me I'm whining....these are just facts I've found on the internet in the last 1/2hr.
Revamping/raising the requirements for acquiring a license would likely make things better. Though it *could* end up badly and start encouraging smuggling of arms.
author=SatedIs there really no other way to do that? Man, it looks like a pain to maintain...

Yes. Ammunition is greatly controlled and regulated. The right to carry a loaded weapon in public is tightly restricted. Transporting a gun is very restricted.

Not really. The article I read, actually two articles said the only ammo regulated was for the weapon they are issued by the government.
The ammo purchased for the weapons they buy on their own is not regulated.
From what I read, a big part is the wealth of that country.
The income of the people is good so most are pretty happy.
In the U.S., many think if the government does give them what they want, they should steal it :( This is not good for us.
