I've never really seen any advantages to Steam.
Reinstalling what you have is so much better than the alternative of having to contact some schmuck at RMW about getting VX Ace back because you had to upgrade to Windows 7 and no longer have it, and you get no response from them after two weeks.
If I had known this would happen (and I've since told them this), I would've just bought it over Steam.
RIP $70
I guess I'm old school, my first step whenever I download an installer is to put a copy on a portable hard drive (or my FTP server nowadays).

Weekly backups, just saying.
I didn't lose my game, I lost the program. Pretty sure it wouldn't work after registration on a different computer.

VX Ace requires a key to use. I bought a key but I no longer have it.

Keys are tied to email addresses. There should be an email in your email history with the keys (always make a folder to put important 'sign up' emails into!) Else, kick up a little fuss on the RMW forums by making a topic asking about how to contact someone. Explain that you've been stuck in support for quite a while. Be polite~ You'll probably get a PM from one of the mods there who can expedite the process and get you sorted. They'll ask for the email address it was tied to but you'll be able to get it figured out a bit faster than just going through support.

Done and done. Now we wait.
I sure hope the VX Ace support subforum was the place I was supposed to post it in; that was literally the first time I've ever posted there (still have the 'can only make 3 posts a day/post has to be accepted by moderator' tag on my account).
EDIT: Already got a response from Nessy saying she'll forward a message on my behalf.
2ND EDIT: All has been made right due to Deckiller.

Yeah that's pretty much my view as well. It's a lot easier to manage games as well, since you don't need to carry a physical CD around. Just install the Steam application and you can reinstall pretty much EVERYTHING you've downloaded on it no matter what computer you were previously on.
Might not be everyone's taste, which is understandable, but I personally find it very convenient.

I've just had a long drive, and came home with a brand new family member! Meet Cleo!
Yay! Is she a rescue or was it a family member/friend that needed to find a new home?
Me? I just got done volunteering at what I can only describe as a thrift store for 3 1/2 hours, the first actual work I've done in about a year. My body feels ready for more (my mind wants to chill, though), but my feet are killing me. Probably the kind of shoes I was wearing.
Anyway, now I can actually enjoy having "time off". See ya on Wednesday, Bruce.
She is a rescue! And congratulations on working! Get Dr. Scholl's for your shoes. I use them in my work boots. Not only do they keep your feet comfortable, but they'll prolong the life of your shoes.

Nothing reveals Humanity so well as the games it plays. A game of betrayal, where the most suspicious person is brutally murdered? How savage.

Such a cute dog! ^^ Even if I am more of a cat person myself.
I also own cats only but i do recognize the cuteness of a dog and that dog is super cute.

It surely does.
author=MirakThat will actually make me very paranoid. I'll incessantly ask myself 'How in hell is this even possible?', 'Why does it work?', 'Is there *really* nothing wrong with this?'. As it seems, not making a mistake is a mistake in it's own right.

pianotm> She looks adorable :3
Hope she isn't one of those overly-playful types that chew on everything in reach though.
