CloseHonestly? I much prefer FF9's card game to FF8's but I think I'm in the minority on that. I just found it a lot more fun.

Do it, just make it better than it was in FF8. Essentially no superfluous rules that complicate matters more than "you see this card? this is what it does. now do it." The brilliance of Tetra Master is that 100% of the information for every round you'll play is on the cards themselves; their strength, attribute, health and which directions they'll affect other cards in.
What would you do in a situation like this? Well, off the top of your head, nothing, but once you understood what you have and how they can be used, it all falls into place.
How about this? Probably the same, right? Well, do you remember/understand the region rules? Is there some aspect you're not entirely familiar with? Was this a random setup and you had no choice over what cards you were going to be using, throwing your typical strategy out the window?
Tough.
You lose because you didn't deserve to win. Wanna play again? Obviously you have to because you just lost at least one of your cards and you've gotta get it back or you'll never see it again.
Looking at these two screenshots, I'm more stressed out at the Triple Triad one for these reasons alone, despite the fact that the player is currently winning, while in the Tetra Master one, they're losing terribly but I can see some ways they could easily turn that around.
You've got options no matter how deep in the hole you are; that's the brilliance of Tetra Master. It's fun for all ages, you know, like a video game should be.

I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

I really really really like the idea of the extra rules in Triple Triad, since they make the game not so samey every single time you play. They make it stay challenging even when you have good cards, and give you a chance to win even when you don't. Triple Triad is like playing Super Smash Bros. with items turned on, and Tetra Master is like turning them off. Neither way is worse, they just might be fun to slightly different types of people.
A few of the rules they added in FF14 are terrible though. Specifically, the Order and Chaos rules, which prevent you from choosing which card to play next. There's not even a game at that point, the outcome is almost completely predetermined. Some of the other rules are better than others; Random is usually obnoxious, but Ascendance is fine, and Plus and Same are pretty fun.
Also, the fact that your cards can level up in Tetra Master is pretty lame. Minigames should not involve grinding.

I didn't play much of the card games in either final fantasy.
Of the few times i played, i'd say i had more fun with tetra master than with triple triad.

Alright, so I assume the top number is its strength and the bottom is its max HP followed by its current HP? What does the X space do? Double?
