WHAT ARE YOU THINKING ABOUT RIGHT NOW?

Along with Mr. T and other characters from the graphic novel, the game will feature non other than Will Wright. In this universe, Will Wright is not a top-notch game designer but a top-notch American geneticist who was kidnapped and coerced to work on a diabolic plan. Mr. T and Will Wright will join forces to annihilate the Nazis and their hardware.

So I spent some time to get NSF support going for RMVX. This is trickier than most other VGM formats since a single NSF file has all the tracks (and SE) in a game in it too. RMVX could play NSF files, but only the starting track and there was no way to play any other track in the NSF file. With Winamp you just use Next/PrevTrack to change tracks but the Winamp library used didn't have a definition for either (yesss looking through decompiled code). I had another winamp library to try but it was missing several other calls that I would like to have (and I wasn't sure if I could even specify what audio plugin to use).

New idea! Try and extract all the tracks from a NSF file into individual ones. There was a utility for it but half the stuff it pulled out was missing instruments and the other half sounded like a cat in a blender. No go for extracting tracks.

After two hours of trying different things I remembered that NSF files don't have to start at track 1 and I looked at the NSF specs to see where the starting track is specified: A single byte about six in that says 'start with track #'. Easy as hell to change. The only downside is you need copies of the entire NSF just to play one track but it really isn't an issue since a full NSF is smaller than a decent MID.

It isn't that bad besides having to make the intial change to the NSF. If I had it my way you'd have to do crazy shit like change the BGM to the NSF then call 'Audio.next_track' or something over and over until you got to the NSF track you want. I like two seconds in a hex editor more than that.

Craze, you do realize June 1 is a common placeholder date, right? Sims 3's release may or may not be exactly 32 days away. Although, it's supposed to be coming in Europe June 5, so the June 2 street date might not be too far off. Good thing too, because this game's already been delayed enough.

I am thinking that we are so used to fast internet nowadays that we forget the days when if a page loaded in under two minutes, it was considered great connection speed!
