WHAT ARE YOU THINKING ABOUT RIGHT NOW?

I loved FFX. FFX had the best character interaction and chemistry, and it also wins points for having a consistent world and setting, and having a clear, concise, and well paced narrative and story. Also, it has the best mythology; everything in game about the religion, customs, and all that shit fit together and its consistent with itself.

-The premise was awesome; a famous athlete gets ripped from his championship game into another world, and develops from a whiny bitch to a capable hero? Awesome. Better than 'PLUCKY CHOSEN ONE FROM BACKWARDS VILLAGE'

-The game had the most badass and engaging first 20 minutes of any RPG I've ever played.

-Auron was awesome. The premise itself was not new, but the execution was awesome; mentor to said whiny bitch, didn't take any shit, wore sunglasses, and spit alcohol on his sword to light it on fire? Awesome.

-The world and setting. Spira was actually consistent and coherent, with it's own distinct architecture, culture, and peoples, instead of stock RPG locales like GENERIC SEWER, GENERIC FOREST, GENERIC DESERT, etc (and yes, it did have a sewer, forest, and desert, but the locales were consistent with the rest of the game world)

-I'm not one for cheesy romances, but this game seems to have done a pretty decent job; the romance progressed from Tidus being out of his league and mainly pathetic to Yuna, to an established relationship with the support of all her friends, and it did everything in between.

-The combat and gameplay was fun for me. It had traditional RPG elements but it did a lot of refreshing things as well, like the Sphere Grid, modified turn based system, and overdrives.


Also Tidus has the best character development in the entire series. No exceptions.

Anyone else notice they can breathe underwater for absurd amounts of time?

It's the pyreflies that make up the substance of the water (and everything else in Spira). Blitzers can train themselves to breath longer by manipulating pyreflies. It's also how magic and such works.

MOG, have you played Tales of the Abyss? The main character, Luke, goes through a similar transformation and is also NOT from a small town that gets destroyed. In fact, all of the characters in TotA are nobility except Anise who is close enough (she is a personal aid to a head of religion).

Also, Spira as a world isn't incredible until FFX-2, which wraps up/continues EVERYTHING in FFX and has the best battles in the series since FF6.

At least you don't have an oaken knee.
