My username is Biggamefreak It was "biggamefreak," but I asked Kentona to capitalize my name on that error. (Funny..Kentona's username is not capitalized...)
My passion is video games and my favorite genres are RPG, action adventure, and platform games. I always do my best to study the history of video games from 1967 to 2012. I can't pick a favorite game, but I can tell you which genre I gravitate towards most. I recently beat Threads of Fate and I am working on Metal Gear Solid 4, Atelier Iris and Atelier Totori. In RPG Maker games, I am working on LockeZ's "Vindication". The Final Fantasy humor and systems are definitely my taste. I'm defending the rebel camp after escaping the castle and obtaining the death scroll at the end."This is it?.. This is all what we came down here to.."(Hope the item helps)
I am currently working on a non-linear fantasy RPG with just 1 hero like in Dragon Quest 1. Other games like Nethack, Elder Scrolls, and MMORPG's have this single player perspective (player relationships in MMORPGs are present, but YOU control one person), however I am drawing the most inspiration from Dragon Quest 1. The engine I will use will be RPG Maker 2003 and I will consider converting to RPG Maker 20XX if I feel it is compatible enough for me. I'm working on putting abilities in items to try to have the single hero have many strategies in many environments while still keeping that mainstream fantasy feel. This will my first 6-8 hour game project and I hope it plays well.
I am glad to be a a part of RMN.

Welcome to the RMN Community Service, For the moment this user don't have any to offer but hope you stay comfortable in your stay.
Right now I am working on an RPG I started working on since October. I'm made all of my dungeons and towns, and they definitely need work. I have an artist who will help me in my monster design, sprite design (might be troublesome to him) and tile design. Right now I am populating the town and adding proper events to move the story along and provide the scenario and hints to get stronger in the game. When I finish that, I will make the monster stats.
I plan to create a deadline to make a release by April 31st. I want this game to be released as I envisioned it. It makes me excited and nervous that I will be presenting my game to people who had made games that I played and loved.
I played Hero's Realm, Befuddle Quest 2, Matsumori Days and many others that really got me excited. I'm working on Vindication which I really want to beat. The last game I beat here was Heartache 101 and that was a real treat.
Hopefully my first game will provide a sample of what I can contribute. I enjoy non linear RPGs with the versatility for multiple strategies to thrive. This game will give the player access to the majority of the map.
PS. Threads of Fate was simple and so much fun. The maps were simple, but the action controls, story, music, graphics, and characters were the best part. Squaresoft has created so many sublime titles for the PS1. They were great other consoles too, but in the PS1 era, Squaresoft and many other companies took the biggest risks in their design. That is where we get Legend of Dragoon, Final Fantasy 7,8, and 9, Chrono Cross, Dragon Warrior (Quest) 7, Suikoden 2, Xenogears, SaGa Frontier and so many other greats. These games use the perfected RPG design from the SNES games and took extreme risks in design choices and create the most stellar graphics and music I have seen. Many of those games were tough too.
I love video games.

Wait a sec. Matsumori Days was listed with Hero's Realm as games that got someone excited? This is most interesting news. Never expected to hear that.
Matsumori Days was my fourth VX engine game I played and I was happy with the school as the base of operations similar to what you expect from an NIS game. I liked getting abilities after clearing bosses. Both Hero's Realm and Matsumori days have a chapter section, so you can rearrange the events and make the development of the story. In your case, the school would have the schools events moving forward. The monsters were only shadows as sprites and RTP, so they were only an obstacle, but I enjoy getting new stuff to get stronger in the next difficulty spike of dungeons (I think I'm a sucker for that kind of gameplay). I got the most excited when I heard Strago's theme from FF6. I thought....I know this...."STRAGO!" and thought about FF6. And I also recognized to Secret of Mana theme.
It sounded like you were overwhelmed when you finally called the game complete. You didn't seem proud of yourself, but I immediately was hooked into this school and high fantasy themed game.

Overwhelmed? Yeah, that might be the proper term for it, actually. I had (and still have) the mind-set that I was (or, rather, will be) going to make three games. So much information was supposed to be in game 1, so much was supposed to be in game 2, and so much was supposed to be in game 3. The basic idea being was that players would have to play all three to get the full picture. So while the proverbial "game 1" might be complete, the other two pieces of the puzzle remain unsolved.
Sometimes it is hard for me to stay motivated in making my game, but I always try to put in time to make something.
Marrend, Make game 2 and 3. I would like it if the news reporters and student council would develop with some cool system you have to manage. Your dialogues flowed well, but I was having trouble looking at that big picture without looking around in your discussion of the game. I just proceed to the next section of the game hoping to catch the plot. Game 2 would be perfect to put the missing pieces together. Think of the story combination of The GBA game Golden Sun 1 and 2. They combined beautifully. Your 2nd game could do that same effect as well.
Getting a list of abilities was very cool though. I want more unique ones that have many different thriving strategies. That is an idea I am trying to work in my game.
Make sure to keep the game tough. That's what I loved about your game the most.
I will try to spend some time to make responses in the Game Theory and Discussion Forum. When I was a non member of this website, I would read that more than other forum sections. Lockez seems to tear up anyone who isn't good, but makes the best discussions and articles. Can't wait to talk to him. Hopefully he won't tear me to shreds.
Thank you everyone for welcoming me to the website. I want to publish my game and hope it can thrive as a single character RPG with a non linear structure. It's my game that I thought of when I was in second grade. I want it made. When I look at it, it is cliche as hell, but I must make it because it was the first big game I ever made and it means a lot to me.
