SKYBORN - INDIE "STEAMPUNK FANTASY" RPG

Posts

I'd pay $15 if I think a game is worth that much. It's not very likely that I find an RPG Maker game to be that good, but there's no actual rule saying it can't be. Heck, I've seen a lot of games in this site that manages to surpass over 95% of the professional RPGs I know in areas like writing or setting, so the potential is there. I'm however one of those who thinks that gameplay is the most important aspect of a game, even if it's heavily story based, so if the area you manage to surpass commercial RPGs in is gameplay, chance is I would buy it.

The price point is definitely one challenge of the indie developer. The 14.95 is based solely on the status quo, which is generally a better metric than some arbitrary measurement of perceived value.

Arguments can be made on either side. Changing price can have multiple positive and negative effects, other than the obvious quantitative effect. Lowering can invite more sales, but also give the impression that the product is low quality compared to something higher-priced. It's a weird balance to walk. One of those things we'll just have to accept that there's no magic bullet answer to.
Let me know when it goes on sale. I'd like to play it (Steampunk is my favourite genre) but I am not willing to pay $15 for it. I'm not saying you picked the wrong price point, I am just saying that I am not willing. I never pay for a PC game unless it is at least 33% off (commercial and indie games alike.)

I don't think this needs much explanation if you have read the whole topic in its entirety.

Mellytan's post for being funny. Ghost's for being true. And yet, the guy who called everyone a "cheap idiot" got away with it....

Mods these days. :^)

As Karsu would say, the direction this topic is taking "sucks". Don't make me lock it! :3

You know what, the direction your moderation is taking "sucks". Mellytan and Ghost in no way needed to be warned.

I disagreed. So I warned them.

Sorry for jumping to conclusions Deckiller, I still don't agree with the warning they were given though.
sometimes I grow tired of people attempting to incite flamewars and derailing topics. I get like that sometimes.

I'm open to good faith feedback to my moderation decisions; a site of yes-users would give undue weight to the mods, even if there decisions are ultimately final. However, warns can't be attributed to one staff member, and in this case a call was made by another. I understand the spirit of the warns, but also the arguments against them as well as the "grey area" of the posts. My comment about the topic was probably over the top, but just a little reminder to keep things from exploding.

Edit: missed part of the convo and now my response is outdated! It's all good, Ark.
Was this made with RPGmaker? I thought advertising games wasn't allowed in the forums?

I liked the discussion, though.
I had to go back and read the posts in question. I am puzzled as to how a warning was deserved also.
Hope it's not amiss to point out that the thing the "poor girl" went through was no doubt a wringer.

Good luck! I'll check out the demo later.

Whoops! Thanks for the heads up.

Especially when he has malicious intent (it's malicious because he's just basically seeking to profit off of 12 year olds who do not know better).

Exactly how do you call that malicious? Ultimately, it's the 12 year olds' fault that they buy such a game. There's also something called parents. In your definition, it may mean malicious, but hey, it's business. You don't suppose such system doesn't work in this world, do you?

Seriously, you need to get some fresh air, chill and get your complete negativity and over-the-topness out of the picture.

Alright, I draw the line here before this gets out of hand. What can be said by both sides has been said. The thread will be locked for a period of time, during which it will stay here in this forum.

In closing, I offer this encore:
