IM TRYING TO MAKE AN ACTION GAME....

Hi

I am trying to make an action game.
I have two game concepts, but one has some very specific things I would like to do with it. So I was wondering if someone could give me any advice on which game creator program I should use either from the resources here or elsewhere...
I haven't exactly found an actiongamemaker.net

Something like bioshock's engine might fit my game best but at the same time I love sprites and would love to make a good ps one level game. But this is definitely not a rpg I want to make. It's a survival horror game. But if any of the listed engines would work than I still wanna try.

What I want to do with my game!

*I want to incorporate an in game time program similar to that seen in some of the more recent additions to harvest moon and rune factory games.

Basically as 8 seconds pass in real time the game's clock for what time it is passes 1 minute. I don't need a calendar system as the events of this game only takes place in the process of one day. Though if a calendar could be introduced that could benefit other more traditional rpg's I am interested in making.

*I want to incorporate lighting.

If the sun is setting and or has set I want it to be darker outside and for little things like lamp posts to turn on. Also entering a dungeon with the lights cut off and it being darker would be cool. Think Pokemon silver I guess...

*I want to incorporate voices and or fmv's!

I know amateur voice actors and I can create a produce an fmv. The run time wouldn't need to be more than 30 seconds to 2 minutes. But I also want to in addition to FMV's be able to have prompts for the main character to start narrating on his own. Like maybe he just entered a house and is saying things about how quite it is. But for that to happen without interfering with character movement or gameplay. Think Deadly premonitions when he just starts talking to himself out of the blue when your driving.

*Lastly combat

I want something more akin to legend of zelda a link to the past but similar. The only weapons this character will have access to is a blunt object of your choice, a knife, a hand-gun, and a car if ur careening into things. I don't want turn based. I want you to see an enemy, and if they see you they will run up to you and start beating you to death.

I only want one character type in the game (maybe with different character models but I am okay with just one), one handgun type, blunt objects will have the same offensive value.

TY for the replies :D
Some of those features could be done in RPG Maker, Game Maker, whatever maker, and similar features have been done before. So you could possibly manage to do it by looking at scripts done by others and incorporating in the way you want in your game. I can't really say which "maker" would be best though. Someone else can probably direct you better.

However, I was wondering what is your experience developing games? Have you used RPG Maker or other makers before? Do you know how to program? If you can program well enough, you could manage with any maker or you could even just code your game from scratch. Your level of experience could better help others with directing you with the best place for you to get started on your projects.
no experience whatsoever.
I am just an artist that works by commission for advertising.
I know a little about editing video and have a good grasp on working audio programs but that's it.
If you're looking to create a fully-fledged action game like you're explaining as well as custom features, I'm not going to burst your bubble, but it is a VERY hard path ahead.

It takes several months / years even to just grab the resources and cover the base of your game. It sounds like you're mixing a massive amount of styles into one game, which is a daunting task for anyone really. FMVs are large files. (Even 500KB is large) and voice acting in a game such as the one you're explaining means sever hundreds or thousands of files. Your game could boost well over 4GB, which is the last thing people want when downloading an indie game.

If you have no experience whatsoever, then I don't know what to say other than try out RPG Maker. People have made Action style RPGs in RPG Maker, you just need to detain the features of RPG Maker. It has been done, and I'm pretty sure you could add levels in an action game.

Game Maker is also a very good suggestion, it's probably the best Game Maker out there. RPG Maker detains its superiority in terms of RPGs and other genres in the trend. But you could try out GM. I mean, I've tried it, but I stuck to RPG Maker because it just homed to me more that I like RPGs rather than Side-scrolling action based games.

By the way, the battle system you described CAN be done in RPG Maker, it's called an ABS (Active Battle System). Commonly seen in Post-apocalyptic RPGs, I recommend you check them out. You see an enemy on a map, and it charges toward you and attacks you. You then press X to Swing your weapon, or Z to Shoot your pistol from a long range.

But starting a project this big sounding from scratch with little experience won't dilute very far.

I'm not trying to discourage you in any way, but what you're shooting at sounds like something big. If you're going to start it, you need to execute it 100% and never give up.
Unity3D.

There are several good plugins for 2D graphics you can use, it's extremely powerful and customizable, and you can make 3D objects look 2D to apply lighting.
Hi! I don't know if you have music yet for your game, but if you don't . . . I would be more then happy to help you out! My strong point is adventure. However this example is of more scary, dungeon-ey parts of games. But I can definitely do action adventure. Here is an example of my scary part of games, however:
