RETURN OF THE ONEHOUR
Posts
author=prexusauthor=Max McGeeI don't know if you can say you literally invented the 3-hour competitions.author=CrazeFun fact: I literally invented the three-hour. Literally. The very first ones ever were mine. It was because I loved the idea of a one-hour, but the thought of participating in one gave me a panic attack; turned out that participating in a three-hour still gave me a panic attack, just a slightly smaller one.
I personally prefer three hour competitions, as they're more accessible and give you the tiniest bit of leeway in doing something odd with your time.
I love these sorts of things, though, so I'm interested.
Kentona's avatars continue to be win, I see.
During the initial 1hrs, there were occasions when the person coming up with the theme changed the time frame. I know I hosted a few 2hrs when I had a chance. Actually, one of mine the theme was "Late" and I got and accepted lots of submissions long after the 1hr. One as much as 3 days late.. it wasn't very good.
I like the One Hour competitions but I wouldn't be able to commit to them. I remember having a lot of fun with them though.
I would assume i would work on my game for approximatly 12 minutes of the hour.
It's fun to work at a deadline and just throw whatever together. I can imagine that with Ace there'd be a lot of just using the auto maps. Event ahoy.
That said, one of my favourite games was made in a three hour. If anyone remembers the one about the butterfly...? (Can't remember its name but it was really sweet. ^.^;)

Mini game jams are hilarious. I made a 2.5 hour game for the Pirate Kart and it's just barely enough time to get in core gameplay and hilarity. So I'm in! If I can get the 3 hours free.
Let's come to a compromise people
how about two hours?
Whatever the case, I'm all over this.

Not the same as having a comp specifically named and structured after a three hour time limit. : P
Give some credit where it's due, I'm an RM fossil too.
I should go ahead and create a 3 and 1/4 hour competition, since it seems like such a prestigious honour to come up with something so brilliant as a time limit.
Okay guys, so I've just created the 5.37 hour game making contest!
...
Now what?~
Seriously, though~ We need to organise this~

I used to something kinda like this with an old buddy on MSN Messenger back in the day. We would take turns making crappy little RTP minigames and scenarios and sending them to each other. It was a lot of fun haha.
With that being said, I'd actually be really interested in an event like this. It's hard for me to find the time or motivation to work on an actual project, but I could see myself getting into this pretty easily.

I should have made this a poll. OH WELL HINDSIGHT
Seems the prevalent opinion is that one hour is too little and three hours are too much. Everyone cool with introducing the two-hour?
