SAVE A TREE, DON'T COVER THE NIGHT 2012

I support anything that leads directly or indirectly to him getting shot in the face.
I am decidedly not Craze, but really this is my problem. You shouldn't support just anything, and in this specific case you absolutely should not support Invisible Children, which is what this whole Kony2012 is about. I also think you shouldn't support just anything in the general, non-Kony2012 sense, too. There are multiple approaches to a single problem, I think we should focus on the ones with the least chance of fucking over countless OTHER people in the process, or ones that will lead to long-term consequences that result in future problems.
Max, do you even know what corrective rape is? From what I see, you're just as bad as the other folks who've jumped on this KONY bandwagon.
Because, see, here's the thing: this movement? It's about having people go into African countries to find Kony, and bring him to court. How do you arrest a dangerous war criminal? By force.
This movement actively promotes invading a country and committing violent acts against her citizens. This movement promotes violence and hate and will harm innocent people. The people of Uganda do not want it.
How could anyone support a movement like that? This isn't just another bit of slacktivism -- just another bit of slacktivism is upvoting a reddit post and then the OP donatung an equal amount to charity. This is getting people riled up and encouraging our governments to take military action -- something that could hurt innocent people.
Like...this is something people have to speak out against. We can't encourage Kony's capture now; it's a shitty idea, given the circumstances.
RE: your edits -- your talent for completely missing the point blows me away. Here's your ticket -- you're going to Hollywood and progressing to the next round. Congratulations.

emmych is cool :D
No, but they facilitate societies that allow one group to prey on another. If African countries were allowed to leave IMF/World Bank debt-serfdom, there would be a hell of a lot less violence and war.
I wasn't comparing them. I was pointing out that propoganda isn't just something you read about in history books or see in WW2 movies. It's a very real and present aspect of everyday life. It's up to the individual to decide if he's receiving emotionally-charged information with intent to convert their views, or if the journalistic integrity is there.
For example, the Kony 2012 thing was designed to convert people to endorse exactly what you now do : Unconditional support for whatever it takes to "get" Kony.

What a stupendously ignorant and offensive statement this is. I'm pretty sure they rape a lot less children.

It is completely ludicrous to compare Gaddafi and Kony. Didn't Gaddafi win the Nobel Peace prize or something? Kony is just an absolute monster.
