That right there is the best way to do it. It is easy. And instead of a blank template you could even use a file from the RTP.

A good starting point is to look at a battle charas template. You can easily copy and paste those power rangers into that template. And don't ask for the template, cause it's easy as hell to find. (Sticky threads, google, etc...)

uh huh... but im thinking i wont use these sprite... just making the red ranger was a PAIN i might just use charas, but without all those cool uniforms

You should just make sheets that have the accessories that you want from charas. You can then paste them onto your character.
