I really like games like the Harvest Moon series, Avalon Code, and the Fable series -- anything that has romance/affection/marriage systems with a dose of action.

Is anyone working on such a game?

I am not sure if this is an appropriate topic or if it even belongs here. I have been searching, and there aren't any available to the public from what I have seen, though it has been done before.

I am not sure whether that was a joke or not... you didn't put any more detail.
Anyway, I would imagine that this wouldn't be hard to pull of with switches and variables, like someone said in your Help topic.
If you gave more details, I would love to help you out.
I'm working on a game with romance elements in it, though not like Fable/Harvest Moon since it's only between two of the main characters~ :3
Sadly, Romance is something best left to stories and movies, lest you wish to become as cynical as I am and only see romance in gaming as Rinaffection+ 1, thanks to the wonder that is Fate/Stay Night. Face it, as a design choice, a "romance" system, if it could be called that, is nothing more then a set of variables that might have implications on the story and/or the gameplay. So, I just don't like the concept.

I can think of a few games on RMN that deal with romance. However, they are visual novels. Which is probably not what you're looking for!

Not at all, thanks for understanding XD

I understand the idea that "romance belongs in movies", but I'm not saying it because I'm a totally hopeless romantic -- easy to admit that I'd take dynamic storylines and gameplay over romance. But I also like a healthy balance of side-quests(which is what I consider the romance systems to be) and main-plot action. So I REALLY don't care for visual novels. XD

I am.

Sure :D Just google the dynamics of Harvest Moon games -- that's basically what I want. I DO value games for content, afterall(despite my recent post about the ridiculously redundant and uncreative names you can find for some of these games XP. I just can't stand it when players sit there and ask "That's it? Well they could've added xoxoxox, and yyzyzyzyz, and boo-hoo, no turnbased battle-system..."

I think you get the point XD

But anyway, any help will be appreciated :)
You could try finding a download for the RPG Maker 2000 game Romancing Walker. It's pretty cheesy with dialogue akin to a low quality anime, but you might enjoy it.

Check the Rare Games topic.
Romancing Walker was fantastic. The dynamic of the relationship system was very flexible, and it felt like each choice you made affected your relationships.
I liked it too. It was just really weird at times.

I held off on details due to the fact that my romance-centered game was my "secret project", but now that I've revealed it, it's got a dating sim element that plays a big role in the multiple routes and endings.
I wouldn't say that I'm working on a "romance RPG" where the entire goal of the game is romance, but given that there are only 3 playable characters in my game (2 male and 1 female) I do internally track the relationship status between the two potential couples and this does affect the acquisition of skills and does result in changes to the storyline.

I just finished the first episode/installment. As this is the opening to the game you won't see many outward effects in response to the two relationships but the seeds are definitely sown for the future.

I think it's important to portray romance as a gradual process. Sure, you can have immediate relationships as a result of lust but how satisfying are those to the player? I prefer to stay a little more organic and let the player decide how the relationships unfold with character choices and actions. There's even the potential that no romance will result at all.
working on it in the future if i can perfect my romance eventing system!
The rpg I'm working on has a romance in it but it's part of the plot.

Nearly most of my games would have romance in them, even Liberated Arms.
Romance system ?
Hum... yeah, I am aiming at love+ system but I didn't devellop it yet but that's an idea I want to put.
I used to work on integrating a romance system, now Ive turned towards a relationship system with all the characters in the game. For me the text book romance situations have not been something Ive cared about in game so I employ situations and choices based on the character you have the highest relationships with. I agree with a lot of you Romancing Walkers did a great job, but in my game the cast has more males that females so I guess this relationship system just works better.
