Yeah you guys are right Evermore was awesome haha I loved the dog haha, I also think that it was harder than SoM, I also agree about the magic system having to do alchemy was pretty cool.

You need to cast the girl's spells on a combat-able map, you only get 1/2 the gains in a town/inn. Best place is right outside the Water Palace.

haha, yeah. we began to suspect this during our run, as it seemed to take her forever to level up in the inn.

so, secret of evermore is good, huh? my colleages have given it mixed reviews.
it may be one of my upcoming runs, as i seem to be hearing more and more about it since i started talking about SoM.

It really is a good game. It's definitely more challenging than Secret of Mana. You might also want to try out Terranigma - it's another great game that's often overlooked.
*Me huggles my copy* <3

That aside, I really enjoyed Secret of Mana, though I never got to finish the 'original' game because of my dumbass brother who took a pair of scissors to the cartridge so he wouldn't have to share it. >.<
Of course, I've clocked it on computer via ZSNES, but it just isn't the same as breaking out the ol' SNES and blowing in the cartridge. Fuckin brothers. >:[
Terranigma is fantastic. Epic, too... I can't think of a longer SNES game off the top of my head.

But I don't wanna get too off-topic here. Evermore is close enough to SoM because it has near-identical gameplay, but the Blazer games are pretty different.

SoE had one of the most frustrating bosses of the SNES era: Verminator. That's where you'd really get screwed if you were neglecting the alchemy system.

I can defiantly see where you’re coming from

Yes play Terranigmia you will not be disappointed. Another good SNES RPG to look into is the Luffia series, especially Luffia 2. It’s not the best game ever made, but it has some nice gameplay features and challenging puzzles and is worth a look.
I'm currently playing Secret of Evermore after reading an article about it in an old Nintendo Magazine. The game never appealed to me back in the day, but after looking at some of the artwork and reading an interview with the developers I got a fuzzy, amateurish feeling out of it that made me feel somewhat identified and got me curious about it.

It's not a terrible game, besides the the aforementioned waiting times that have made me want to punch my computer a few times, I've found it entertaining enough to keep going. The music is rather absent and there doesn't seem to be much of a story either, but those are less of an issue. Yeah, I'd probably have enjoyed it more as kid, but, eh...

I think what I like the most is the theme of progression trough time; It's not very relevant in this game but it's there. Think of E.V.O. when you advance from one era to another. Or Terranigma when you wake up that a small Tibetan town, then you move to Middle ages Europe, and them Modern age America. I like that kind of stuff, I dunno why. xP
I didn't get to grow up with Secret of Mana, unfortunately(born '97). I remember playing the game, but man... I liked it, but I feel that Seiken Densetsu 3 is a much more better(it's REALLY hard to say this, might need to play it again) game. It had great replayability and a better battle system. I do remember nearly crying when all the villagers kicked out the protagonist for picking up a sword. What a bunch of dicks, those guys should really have some responsibility lol.

I did enjoy Final Fantasy Adventure(SoMs prequel) though. I don't know why, I thought SoM's clunky battle system worked much better in that game. Then again it's been a long time since I played that game.
Secret wof Mana was awesome. So was Final Fantasy Adventure for the Gameboy.
