Sorry for always being a bother, but I am currently having computer problems. I don't know how it happen, but whenever I try to access a folder it freezes up and I get an error messages. One of those send or don't send messages. I ran my anti-virus but nothing has showned up and hoping that someone here could help me with this problem.
More details please.

e.g. OS, age of computer, DOES IT SOUND FUNNY etc? Be as informative as you possibly can. Nothing worse than a plea for tech support in the general forum where someones like "my pc is broek how can fix i".
I'd bet its a folder with a video in it, Explorer is trying to generate a thumbnail of it, fails, and crashes.

Extra details.

Has nothing to do with videos, but instead with pictures. Most of the time it revolves around resources downloaded, but there is a few here and there where it does it for no reason at all. It's a Dell 3000 which I had for 4 years. No, it doesn't make any funny noise. During summer time the fan usually gets slightly louder but not that much.
My money's still on thumbnails, although I've never had Explorer puke over images before.

What was the error?

Is it every folder or a certain folder?

My initial thoughts agree with Ankylo; it sounds like bad sectors on your HDD. You should find out who your HDD manufacturer is and get download a utility checkup from them to verify this.

Well, it only affects my profile on my family's computer. And revolves mostly, if not all, around RM stuff. Which is what I find weird.

@rcholbert: How would I go about finding out who is my HDD manufacturer?

You probably already know, but I feel like I should post these up:

Looks like a virus dropped by a trojan:

Try virus scanning in safe mode if you haven't done already and turn off System Restore before you do the scan.

How would I turn off System Restore? I don't see that option anywhere.
