SUGGESTED FEATURE: SUBSCRIBE TO DEVELOPER

Maybe I should start by pointing out that I have periods of being an off-and-on visitor, and I don't track the new-stuff feeds very closely. So I rarely have a very good sense of what's going on games-wise except for what pops up in other contexts: featured games, articles, etc. I doubt this is that uncommon.
One specific thing we could do to improve game discovery is to let people subscribe to developers, similar to how we subscribe to games right now. It would work a lot better with the way games get made in the community, I think. Usually we subscribe to a game because we're impressed by the work the one or two creators did on it, and we'd be happy to know about another game they're doing after that thing we liked gets cancelled. (Or even finished!)
The main use case I see is subscribing to games (maybe only new games?) by the makers of an existing game, though maybe someone would want to suggest "show me when Solitayre posts an article" or the like. I'm not familiar with all the positions that can be set now, but obviously we'd want to screen out testers and the like if we went that direction.

So kind of like a "follow" feature? Hmmm...
Except we could call it 'stalker plus'. I like the idea in general.
This is dumb and unnecessary and difficult to implement. Can't you just bookmark people's game list from their profiles? Hur! Hur!
(Typical rmn reply to suggestions) (I thought it was needed here, to not break the habit)
Edit: Haha! Thanks for proving my point...? =P

Allowing you to post is dumb and unnecessary.

I don't normally start from the social-networking perspective, but that does sound pretty accurate.
Well, what alter said is correct though - if you want to see what a person posted/did last, just check their page for their last actions. There's also potential for this to be kinda creepy...
Assuming that the feed the subscriber/follower gets contains only information pertaining to games the developer has, I don't see what would be so creepy about it. It'd be no different than subscribing to all the games a developer might have.
Ah, I was assuming all posts, updates, etc on, well, everything site related; which you gotta admit, is a little creepy.
Yeah, I agree that would be over the top by any measure.
I had actually considered this at a very high level, but haven't thought about it too deeply on how best to implement it.
I will add it to my list of considerations for a future update! We'll see if I can't do something like this.

There's currently this new "Status" feature right? This could also be included as a part of user subscriptions.
