I watched Hunger Games out of shear curiosity.. It was Ok actually. An arena making contest though? Everyone submit a sprite, randomly select which user fights who and vote who wins each fight, that could be fun?
That does sound like a neat contest. Probably coolest sprite gonna win, though. Not that there is anything wrong with that.

I don't think I've ever heard someone refer to the Belgariad/Malloreon before. Those were some great books...
Anyway, I vote for a hunger games event, simply because I wouldn't be able to join in a SMBX event.
I like the idea of an arena fight, but randomising the enemies would be a nice idea. Maybe something like, create your character and class, add some skills then try to beat a random string of fighters to become the champion. Have about 6 tiers of strength and about 5 or so enemies per tiers, each with different styles of attacks. Then have them randomly called each time.
If we don't do that in this event, I might make it an event later on. We could all design the enemy characters, say one or two each, with their attacks (reasonable) and then design different classes for the hero, or skills that can be added. It would be fun.

Another idea for an Arena event would be for everyone to create a Hero with a set amount of points to add to stats and a large pool of moves to choose from. You set the stats and pick 5 or 10 moves and your Hero is put into RPGMaker. Then it is placed up against various levels of Monster Groups with Autobattle on xD Whoevers hero manages to defeat the most enemies, wins.
Or you could draw up a tournament chart and each matchup has 1 player as a Hero on Autobattle and the other player as a Monster and they duke it out.

I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

Last time we did this, which wasn't that long ago, hardly anyone really even voted in the fights. Though making the contestants was still pretty fun.
I kind of think that was because Dudes did a round robin tournament, ending up with like 100 2v2 battles, and people didn't really want to think through who would win that many fights.

Actually, what I was thinking is a map designing contest where you make an arena to fight in, and send it in. Then the maps would be played, and based on the way it looks, and the ideas you come up with, along with how fun the fights are, the winner is chosen.
1st place, 2nd place, 3rd place.
But this idea works a bit better, but it doesn't seem like Hunger Games. It would be cool to have though. :3
