Because I like talking about pointless crap.

I posit that most people follow the axiom of either "Life Sucks" or "Life is Fricking Awesome." Where you fall on this spectrum is directly proportional to the amount of hope you possess. The only way to come to either of these conclusions is via your own personal experiences. Note that witnessing the experiences of others can count as your own. I imagine most people find some things about life to be sucky and other things about life to be awesome. I also imagine that many people have questions. Well so do I.

(Hint hint: This is a Philosophy thread.)

EDIT: I just posted this in Game Design when I meant to put it in General Discussion. NOW WHAT?

What do you mean? It's in General Discussion. Or is this some kind of philosophical paradox thing going on?

I was just about to pontificate over the potential butterfly effect my mistake may have caused but you beat me to it. Is it fate? Or is it proof that fate is easily overturned by mankind's will?

The question of the topic is, what is the question?

Totally serious, not sure what to be talking about. ┐( ̄ー ̄)┌

I assume: do you love or hate life? Why? What experiences have brought you to this conclusion?

I cannot into forums apparently.

But yeah, I just wanted a general non-specific Philosophy topic: You got questions? We've got more questions.
Caz is pretty much on the money though.

I used to seriously hate being alive as a child, so it stands to reason that I quite enjoy it now. Perhaps just because I went through everything I went through, and at the other end I don't have anything to do other than be happy for the fact I lived. It stopped making sense to be upset all the time, so I manned up and just decided to be happy instead.

Life's pretty coo'.. I mean, it's something to do and beats being dead. I'm hardly an optimist, but I'm just grateful I got a chance to see some of the world. And who wants to be an angsty little 6-year-old anyway? Sure, I still get the occasional urge to kill people for no apparent reason, but I've come to enjoy that too!
Good things:In my life, the god things are mostly the small things, and even some of the bad things are, but here are the good things.
1.Going to water parks.
2.Going to the park.
Going to theme parks.
3.Going on vacation.
4.Getting wet.
5.Going to the beach.
6.Having wonderful pets!
7.Pretty much having fun in general.

Bad things:
I'll try and put this as simple as I can.

1.Geting Hurt.
2.Getting bullied.
3.Getting tricked.
4.Getting the fuck anmoyed out of me by my brother.
5.This is somewhat along with getting hurt: Falling off about 12-15 feet of an escalator, getting saved by my mom, but getting a bone inmy back compressed and ruined, with both of us getting permanent bruises.
6.Disturbing thoughts in my head such as:
A.Getting killed by my brother
B.Could I be the anti-christ?
C.I've been reading too many creepypastas if I am constantly scared that when I turn on a game that I'll shit my pants.
D.Me feeling that my parents...aren't my parents.
E.Killing people, raging, running up trees, going on rampages, all in my mind if I get angry...or sometimes just randomly.
F.Ect.
7.An awesome pet dying, and me being blamed for it. :(

I'll stop here, so I don't get even more diturbing with my bad things.
So yeah, since in my eyes the bad things out way the good things, really, life fucking sucks. But I can't really complain right? I die I either go to Heaven or Hell, but I'm already in Hell, right? Everyone wants to go to Heaven, even people who don't believe in an afterlife at least wants something good if after anything bad happens. I have to make sure I at least live life and have fun.

as far as gross oversimplifications go...this one is surprisingly accurate.

i have reached the nadir of human misery, by the way, the black hole inside yourself where the most blighted and cruel pessimism collides with absolute truth; the worst thing will always happen because it can. i am trying to climb through that hole and position myself above it all, a detached, bemused observer of the endless parade of misery that is life: senseless, tragic, and ugly.

"Life sucks" or "Life is awesome" is either a simple point of view, or an outcome brought by facts and experiences that are and/or are not under your responsibility.
From my point of view, hope has nothing to do with it.
What you need is knowledge and abilities.
Knowledge of causality and of your freedom of thoughts/emotions/behavior.
And abilities such as doing what has to be done in order to make a given situation the most positive possible, or lessen the negative outcomes as much as possible.

Following this line of thought, my philosophy in life is:
Aim as high as possible and do as much as possible to reach your objectives, but at the same time don't expect anything.
Result: I'm always satisfied whenever I accomplish anything, and I'm never disappointed when I fail.

Anyway, to each his own.

I will choose hell, just being happy in a perfect world called heaven... doesn't sound something I would like, although my favorite one is that nothing happens when I die :)
