So im Working on my side project,(probably the last project im gonna post on the RM network) and i would love to get i name for it but i keep coming up blank. so any help? first off let me explain i do want people to just give out game names, thats not helping, i was wondering if you guys could help me with tips and tricks to make names for your projects. so, any help?
Think about key points in your games. Look at the N64's Zelda titles. Ocarina of Time was based around the use of your ocarina, as well as the temple of time. Majora's Mask was the mask that the skull kid wore in that game, and was obviously the object that the game revolved around.
Aside from that, try things like main characters' names (not always the protagonist), maybe text that later comes up in the game, or whatever else.
A list of words you may consider using in a title (just something I decided to include):
"Legend of" "Quest" "Adventure" "Rising" "Destiny" "Final"

Actually I would specifically recommend not using ANY of these words ever. Either that, or put them together:
Adventure Quest! Free Online RPG!

This is awesome advice and should be taken to heart. It'll make your game stand out much more than a game like Adventure Quest, which is so painfully generic you could apply it to almost any RPG. Choose something that suits your game and not drag along the rest of the RPG game crowd too.
I find there to be nothing wrong with those words, they are nice and simple. I find that i don't like to spend heaps of time thinking on a game name so i try to keep it very simple. What i usually do to come up with a name is to write the basic summary of the game which is the plot, main characters etc and then form a name out of what i've written.
Hahaha, I hate that Adventure Quest bullshit. Also, I somewhat see what you mean Abley, but whatever.

They're overused, stupidly simple and painfully dumb. Really, can't one show more effort and imagination than that?
Honestly, my advice is just to let a name come to you. Somewhere in the course of your game making, you'll get a Eureka moment and you'll 'find' the right name. Try to hard to find it and you'll just end up with something generic and retarded. Just let it flow.
Games that try too hard in the naming department come across as overly pretentious and elitist.
Really, a title has to be aware of it's medium. I mean, it's Rm2k3 guys. "Hero" and "Legend" and "Crystal" and "Quest" and "Realm" are right up its alley.
But, to answer your question, the game name should fit the type of game you're making, and make it whatever you want. Avoiding certain words is just another "3-tile rule".
PS. I am so sneaky.

I've always advocated the use of proper nouns in titles, just so that the game is more memorable. And as for using 'final' 'legend' 'dragon' etc... I would advise against it. Not that there's anything intrinsically wrong with these, it's just that any game that uses them sounds generic, even if the game isn't. Just try to give a good first impression. The story elements don't have to be specifically reference, but it's nice to keep with the mood.
Oh, and I've always hated the mystery-novel-esque type names that consist of some stupid saying with absolutely no relevance.
