Closeok, I looked up in the dictionary, this is what I found :

Well, pardon me, Ms. Maria, but you could not possibly be in a -drug cartel- by mere accident. Indeed, there have been rumours of drug trafficking being performed on premises, need I remind the crew of that poor maid Jillian who was framed with the smuggling of crack cocaine from Alexotria to New Retshire. She was behind bars for a full week! They never caught the criminal, unfortunately.
So, dear Maria, if you -were- in a drug cartel, you'd surely know about it, wouldn't you?

Yes, Maria, you are absolutely right! But it is well-known that there have been 4 major groups warring over this general province. These 4 groups are the Mafia, Cartel, Independents and Town. Indeed in a society with mafia, the drug cartel are probable to appear, and I say this without hesitation. Not that I have anything to do with them, of course.
About the bust I don't know, maybe you're right, but why do you say that Lord Essex had not seen his friends over ten years, he never mentioned that, or did I miss that?

He had allowed us to come ahead on to the boat and he would come meet us here. Of course, we tried to escape with the help of a kind man. But, the seller killed him right in front of my eyes. I

The number of years is, frankly, irrelevant because Lord Essex mentioned his friends at all. There would be no reason for him to do this if he was indeed referring to you.

Indeed, Ms. Cinatti, I will have to agree with you on this one, albeit with sorrow from the bottom of my heart. Mr. Margraves has not cared to explain his absence in further detail, nor has he established any sort of desire to seek the killer, not even in the form of clues. I have no insight as to his character or background, and if he is wanting to survive to the next day, I plead to him that he would explain himself, for the good of the entire ship and its crew. I mean this in the sincerest of manners.
