I am on the fence about this. I LOVE the Star Wars movies, but with Disney now being the parent company of Lucasfilm, I am worried that we may be exposed to more Jar Jar Binks sort of nonsense. The up-side to this? This one will be set AFTER Return of the Jedi. Awesome.
It's still a few years away, but this is massive news. First Marvel and now Lucasfilm... Disney is becoming an unstoppable beast that consumes everything in its path. Disney = Tetsuo.

As much as the prequels kind of failing at the point when it first started, I don't think so. Episode 1 one was crappy, but it won me over with Liam Neeson.
I hope he makes a force cameo.

I always thought it was only a matter of time before we'd see another trilogy. Hell, 20 years from now I'll bet there is a fourth trilogy too.
The upside to me is no more George Lucas. Dude's lost his friggin' mind.

I'm not worried so much about Disney trying to shoehorn Jar Jar-esque junk to appeal to kids. They owned Marvel during the production of The Avengers and that came out alright.
My sincerest hope is that they'll embrace Star Wars as it was in the 80s. Those films were kid friendly but they also appealed to adults because of the care and craftsmanship put into them.
My dream? A new Star Wars trilogy made entirely with practical effects and old fashioned models, a la the original trilogy. Give me the Battle of Endor over the CGI fireworks show of Revenge of the Sith any day!
I enjoyed both trilogies okay, but my only hope is that they come up with something new in the character design and plot.
And no more dichotomy in the Force.
I'm fed up with clichés and both trilogies were full of it.

I am 100% for it on the grounds we get Plinkett Reviews when they inevitably turn out to be garbage. Let Star Wars die already and make new cool IPs instead of rehashing old ones over and over again.
The last time I was excited for a Star Wars movie was 1999 before the release of The Phantom Menace.
A new Star Wars trilogy? Idk..4-6 were really good, and ended rather well. Only part of the prequels that I liked was the ending with Luke & Leia being born, and the rise of Darth Vader. Though Darth Maul, and General Grievous were pretty boss.
Wonder what this new trilogy will bring us from the galaxy far, far away~ :o

■The New Republic (5 ABY - 25 ABY)
Having defeated the Empire at the Battle of Endor, the Rebel Alliance must now transform itself from a militant resistance force into a functioning galactic government. As Imperial territory is reclaimed, the New Republic suffers growing pains, having to fend off insurrections, Imperial loyalists, and wayward warlords. Also, Luke Skywalker, the last of the Jedi, begins training apprentices, rebuilding the Jedi order.
■The New Jedi Order (25 ABY - 36 ABY)
The Jedi Knights are now a hundred strong. The New Republic has signed a peace treaty with what little remains of the Empire. The galaxy is finally enjoying a peaceful respite from decades of war. It's at this time that a horrible alien menace invades the Republic from beyond known space. The Yuuzhan Vong lay waste to entire worlds in their scourge, as depicted in the novels of The New Jedi Order. Five years later the galaxy goes through the events of the Dark Nest Trilogy. The novels detail how Luke Skywalker and his New Jedi Order confront the mysterious insectoid Killiks, who are a hive-minded species intent on conquering the galaxy.
■Legacy (40 ABY - 138+ ABY)
Having reached peace with the Yuuzhan Vong, the newly formed Galactic Federation of Free Alliance struggles to keep itself working as a single government. But many threats from inside are joined by a danger that comes from the remains of the Dark Side. The new Jedi order created by Luke Skywalker faces a new era as the heirs of the Skywalker legacy grow up. Jacen Solo, perhaps the wisest of that new order, is now Ben Skywalker's master, and together they will have to confront the new powers willing to destroy the Jedi, the Galactic Federation and, maybe, the galaxy. This era includes the Jacen Solo's descent into darkness, and the death of many iconic Rebellion era characters. The Legacy era continues in a series of comics that debuted in May 2006 entitled "Star Wars: Legacy".

I'm not a huge fan of the 7-9 series but really it can't be any worse than 1-3. Plus, Lucas will not be the one making it. Thank god.
With Lucas out of the picture, this has so much potential to be awesome. Disney has lots of talent within their movie empire. With the right director and writers, this could be amazing.
Eh, this is something I might have cared about ten years ago. I can't see anything coming out of this I would honestly consider good, but on the other hand I no longer care if there are bad Star Wars movies!
These are the movies our children will grow up watching and calling "Star Wars" though. Think about that.

Man, Lucas looks so sad in that picture. You can tell his heart just isn't in it anymore.

Marvel vs Star Wars vs Disney
I'm not feeling this unless the movies are to be directed by Michael Bay.
