SQUARE-ENIX.. NO MORE CREATIVE GAMES!

Posts

I am now expecting an EVO remake. Also, some should inform the boss about a little thing called "The Wii Virtual Console" - I wants my Chrono Trigger, dammit!

Creativity is not neccessarily dead - a lot of people can be very creative even with strict boundaries - but experimentation is going to go down the shitter. But what do I care? I haven't bought a Square-Enix game since Final Fantasy VI for the SNES.
See, I had heard this differently. I heard that what he meant was that the *remakes* weren't mainstream. He said that they were making games they wanted to make (the remakes) instead of what the public wanted (more original content) and that was going to change. So, in fact, expect less FF1 remake v12.8 and expect more The World Ends With You and Sigma Harmonics.

All I want is a FFVI remake. That is all.
All I want is a EVO remake. That is all.
Guys, much like Soul Blazer, Illusion of Gaia, Terranigma, the Star Ocean games and Infinite Undiscovery, EVO is not a Squenix game. They published these games, but they didn't make them. I don't expect these policies will affect any of these games.

I'd love an EVO remake, too, but I think the company that made it is dead. Anyway, it would have to compete with Spore. And I don't see anyone trying that until it's been out a while.
I agree with Shadowtext. I loved Squaresoft and loved Enix even better. But ever since they formed up into one, they have not been the same. Many people believe that the Final Fantasy series stopped being good after 9 and I concur. While some people agrue FF10 wasn't bad, people can agree that what happened after FF10 was made, was bad. This was around the same time Square Enix was formed.

-Final Fantast 11 being an MMO even though they could have just called it FF Online making it seperate from the main series?

-Making a direct sequel to FF10?

-Making stupid spinoffs off of FF7?

-Fucking up the 'Of Mana' series?

-FF12 becomes a completely different game that it might as well be FF:KOTOR?

-Half of the games being released lately have been rehashes/ports/remakes of games the original Square and Enix created over 10 years ago?

The list goes on and on, Square Enix has never been creative nor were they good, they've been fucking everything up since the day they collaborated. Also Nomura is probably the worse character designer in existance, everything he creates must have belts and zippers, everything.

Only thing they made decent was Dragon Quest 8, but even then that was made by Level 5 (IMO the only decent JPRG company as of late). TWEWY was OKAY, but the story/art seemed like they took Deathnote and plasted some JSR over some of it.

Even so, those two games certainly weren't creative, DQ8 was simply an oldschool with newschool paint, and TWEWY only had easymode gameplay going for it.

So fuck SE.

Sadly, even after all of this, I still buy SE games hoping their masterpieces. Final Fantasy XII was a huge disappointment. Not only because of the real-time battles, it was because some of the characters were just annoying (*cough* Vaan and Penelo *cough*). Final Fantasy XI just looked like a WoW knock-off, and the only FF VII spin-off that I actually enjoyed was Crisis Core. I'm just gonna lose all hope if The Last Remnant is bad.

Man Crisis Core was so bland and boring.

Also, FFXI came out before WoW did.

The only bit of originality that was left at Squenix was Matsuno and he left. Yuji Hori is a good designer but his work can hardly be called creative.

Man, I get that it's not everyone's cup of tea, but anyone who says TWEWY wasn't original and creative is using some definitions of the words that I've never heard of before. Monsters based on tribal tattoo-art, fashion-and-fad-based equipment and stat gains, not to mention the core gameplay mechanic where you control two different player characters simultaneously using different input schemes for both...

...so what is everyone's concept of creativity, here? Is this another one of those "My hobby is more artistic than yours" things, rather than a video game thing?

Pretty much. It's a shame, really.

I thought it was pretty good, both character and gameplay wise but it still doesn't compare to the original final fantasy VII.

It's supposed to be good and from what i've read and watched so far it looks to be a good game.

I have not played it so I can't count it towards anything.

I could tear FF7 up for hours and hours. It's a clusterfuck of plot holes, bad dialogue, and fashion emergencies. Despite that, if you take it for what it is, which is not the pinnacle of RPGs, it's a pretty fun game. Oh, and don't use any summons. It makes the game much more enjoyable.

Crisis Core had none of the fun of FF7 starring a retard nobody ever cared about in the first place.

Zack in Crisis Core was more interesting than most of the original cast of FF7 put together.

Dude, never compare these two games ever again. KOTOR was stellarEpic and FFXII was a snoozefest supreme.

Interesting. My experience was the exact opposite.
Well, like I say, its as much about how you play the game as what the game gives you.

We must just play differently. :-X
If The Fabula "whatever the fuck FFXIII titles" are anything like FFXII,
SE may not stand as the leading RPG distributors anymore. As long as
they don't fuck the Star Ocean series up anymore, I'm cool.

Great ::) Although the Star Ocean series isn't the greatest series in the rpg genre at least they were good enough to play through.. except the Til The End of Time.. MAN that was bad.
