The statement about the directx requirement was not a negative point, much like proof, that it's NOT software accelerated anymore.
I think you misunderstood me. I said RMXP/VX took a lot of flak for not supporting hardware acceleration because quite nearly every single video card that was in use during their time had the appropriate capabilities to support hardware acceleration. RMXP/VX decided to not fully utilize graphics hardware that nearly anyone would've had and everyone called Enterbrain out on it, which Enterbrain addressed by introducing hardware acceleration in RMVXA.

As for RM2K(3), I'm not sure whether they have hardware acceleration or not, but I'm willing to bet they do to some extent given their shining performance.

Our point of view however is subjective. I still wouldn't recommend this engine over the never ones.
And I wouldn't recommend this to candle. rm2k or 2k3 is not a choice for a sophisticated looking game.
Indeed, we are all entitled to our opinions. I just wanted to bring to light that the decision of choosing an engine shouldn't hinge so largely on the age of a given engine but rather what that engine can bring to the table. Yeah, RM2K is old, that is a rock-solid fact no one will deny, but it's also an engine that is still able to match RMVXA and even exceed it in certain areas and consequently shouldn't be so easily disregarded.
