Kentona locked my first topic for whatever reason. Jerk.

What will Hillary do? Could she continue to damage the party? Will Obama cave and have her as Veep?

Discuss.
Much better.

I wonder about all those stupid dems who said they'd vote for McCain if Obama got in. You know, because he's an evil muslem or something.
I still think there will be some crazy riot or something in the south. I mean look at the sexist and racist acts that still go on in the US today. Now they may elect a black president, and I just get this bad feeling of KKK-ness, or maybe even just southern people uprising. Am I the only one. Also, I bet his reign ends in assassination. Just because he is black (and no, I'm not being racist, I am saying that many Americans are).
Obama being assassinated would be the worst thing for the White population in America. I'm sure even the worst people among you guys know this.

The racist/assassination theory you pointed out isn't terribly far fetched. I still think he'll live a long, healthy life, but for the reasons you stated, Myers, I really don't think he should choose Clinton as the Veep if he values his life. Clinton will do anything to win, and he needs to NOT allow her to benefit from his death.
Hahaha, that would be quite a twist. Also, I think there would almost be an outrage if Clinton was elected as well. All of this Sexism and Racism. And Harmony Harmon von Ick, I don't really feel all that strong about the whole "assassination" idea, more just the riots or outrages.
Yeah, Obama's speech was great.

As for the assassination thing - pretty much every president has had an attempt on his life.

What, you mean like "Even though we all vote republican, we're going to get upset about the democratic nominee?"

Most of the rednecks I talk to (I live in the deep south, so that's a fairly large number) are convinced that McCain is a sure bet for the next president. The only thing they care about the democratic nomination is that they take a good deal of delight in the fact that the party has been in disarray over this thing for so long, hurting their chances.

I'm glad Obama got the nom. I would've probably voted for McCain if it had been Hillary....hesitantly. Obama's my favorite of the people who were in the running this time around....he's probably not the answer to the problems in this country, but he's the one that seems like the he'll do the least harm to the country.

It's a shame that's what it always seems to come down to, though. If some voodoo priest resurrects Teddy Roosevelt, I'm totally jumping ship to the "Zombie Bull Moose Party."

HILLARY STILL HAS A CHANCE

A snowball's chance. In hell, that is.
Voting for McCain over Clinton is silly if you prefer Obama. They're stances on issues are basically the same.

Go Obama go. Although I think the Republicans will will it.
I doubt a republican will win. As long as Obama can get the Hilary fans to unite behind him I think he's got it in the bag. I could be wrong though!
Obama is going all the way. There is no way he can lose it now.
I can't possibly imagine americans electing a republican party for a third term.

Of course, I couldn't believe they voted in Bush twice, so who knows what goes on inside of american minds.

I'll tell you what goes on inside american minds.

1) Isn't Obama a Muzlem?
2) But ah jist don't want a black president
3) His middle name is Hussein!
4) He don't believe in the flag since he don't wear a lapel pin.

I doubt that people like that are less than 2%. At least I hope. The major problem for Obama is his foreign policy positions which just come off as extremely naive and weak. Also, all the disgruntled Clinton voters that are going to McCain.
2% of 300,000,000 people is still 600,000.

I hope Obama wins. For the world's sake. The lunatic fringe of the Republican right has taken over the country, and it's paying for it.
Yeah, and generally speaking, those 600,000 are the 65 year-olds-and-higher that make up 80% of the people who bother to vote any given election. The other 20% are college professors, but not students, except maybe the heads of the SGA.

The real question here is: are Obama's fans big enough fans to get off their asses in November? McCain's are--old people love to vote.

Good point, ST.

We need an internet voting system or something. Then Obama would win 99 to 1.
Obama has a much greater chance of winning, I think, due to the large portion of college students who practically worship the guy. They're getting much more politically active nowadays, and every single one of them is on the left side of the political spectrum.

However, I'm basing this judgment on living in California, which almost invariably is a Blue State. I wonder which way the politically borderline states will go this time around.
