RMN DROPBOX INTEGRATION TESTING
Posts
The Dropbox integration I recently added to the site was approved by Dropbox the other day and before I opened it up to the whole site I wanted to get a few people to test it.
In its current form, the Dropbox integration allows you to give RMN permission to link to your Dropbox account and send games to it. This only works for games hosted on-site (the ones where you can see a file size next to the download). I will also be adding the ability to send files from your Dropbox to the site (for game downloads). Hopefully this will help those with slow or bad Internet connections.
Reply to this post if you would be interested in helping me test this. I'll probably take ~10 users.

interesting. i'll help
Ok, i've added the required permissions to your account. You should see a "Link Dropbox account" in your profile settings or there is also a button next to game downloads (on the actual downloads page, nothing on the main page with the big download button yet). So, if you were to go here: http://rpgmaker.net/games/792/downloads/ you should now see the "Link Dropbox account" button. There also isn't a way to currently view your Dropbox queue, but you will receive a notice when/if the file is sent successfully.
I'll try it out.
EDIT: It created an RMN folder at least. It's just a bit weird it doesn't have the blue circle thingy.

Sure! Craze and I already have a game in Dropbox, so...
Ok, I've added the required permissions to both all three of your accounts. Just so you know, the "send files to RMN from Dropbox" part isn't implemented yet, still working on that, but hopefully it will be ready soon.
All I see at the moment are the folders "Apps" and "RMN".
EDIT: Send to Dropbox option is working just fine.

i linked my dropbox account in my profile settings. the screen came up and i accepted that but nothing happened for me. i have no RMN folder created.
i clicked send to dropbox for a few downloads and i got a message 'added to queue'. but nothing actually happens.
oh wait, i got notices saying the download 'was successfully sent to your Dropbox!'. but no files on my PC

Nessy, I already added all of the staff/contributors.

It should create an 'RMN' folder inside the 'Apps' folder in your Dropbox.
No games were ever sent to your Dropbox? The notice doesn't happen until the file is actually sent to Dropbox...not sure what could be wrong there, but I'll take a look.
Question for anky: You're RMN's code guy. Aren't you supposed to be the opposite of Error?
i have a hidden folder called .dropbox.cache, a config file, and a getting started pdf in my dropbox folder. that's it. could it be that i changed the location of the folder to somewhere other than My Documents?
fyi, i signed up for it to test this out.

Hmm, what happens if you login at Dropbox.com? Do you see the Apps -> RMN folder there?
at dropbox.com, the only place i can find apps is when i click my username at the top right and go to settings. under "my apps" it says i have none. so for some reason it didn't work even though i got the screen that asks me to accept the RMN app and i got the confirmation message.
there doesn't seem to be any way for me to unlink and try it again in my RMN settings.

Weird. Yea, there isn't a way to unlink it on the site yet, but I just went ahead and did it for you, so give it a try again!
it worked this time. i have the APP/RMN folder.
i was able to download something to my dropbox successfully. is that the only function right now? is there anything else being added later?

Yes, that is the only function right now and I am working on being able to send games from Dropbox to RMN. Hopefully that will make it easier for users with slow or unreliable Internet connections.
Is there anything else you can think of that would be useful?
