SUGGESTIONS...
Posts
(first suggestion, I suggest this topic be stickied for all people who have suggestions! :D)
Those are very humble suggestions, I never ran a website like this so I don't really know a lot, but anyways!
1- I suggest that in the game panel, one can "edit" a screenshot and a game download instead of only adding or removing them. Editing would pretty much just mean deleting the one selected, and replacing it with another, and the other ones' form is already filled with the information of the previous one.
(unless we can already do that and I didn't notice we could? if it is the case, maybe make it more obvious...)
2- I suggest that people can also comment on games instead of just write whole reviews. Comments are short, maybe one or two phrases. As reviews are larger and all, most people get an opinion on games but wont feel like writing an actual review; the comments will be just right for them...
3- I strongly suggest you give more room to game submissions, perhaps even showing random screenshots of recent games in the main page: screenshots will grab the attention of passing visitors, and might make the difference between a quick visitor and a new member... Thats not to say to fill the main page with images, but just at least show a few. Maybe like, show a random screenshot of the latest game, plus the screenshot and title of one random game somewhere else.
dats all folks! lemme know what you think of these ideas! This site looks extremely promising...

#1 is coming in the next update. It hasn't been tested completely yet, which is why it hasn't been uploaded.
#2 is coming in the future.
#3. The frontpage is going to be redesigned to be much more appealing and informative.

I'm definitely looking forward to #2 especially, though I hope it'll be comments on almost EVERYTHING on the site... games, articles, tutorials, news posts, and even game reviews themselves :o. Now that'd be awesome.
I think comments are crucial so we don't have to make a whole game topic to get some small feedback.
Agreed about the comments thing.
I'd also like to add that, maybe, on the front page, we could also include "Recently Updated," so people can see what's, well, recently updated. I think it would probably run on log entries rather than screenshots or changed description, so that everything doesn't get pushed around every single day.
Of course, the "favorite games" thing and the notice you get about updates with it will certainly work for those who make the certain game their "favorite," it could be a good way for people to notice a game that may go, well, unnoticed because it gets buried.

Comments would be nice. Because reviews seem to be such a hassle. I've been waiting on like 3 people to finally review my game :P
1.)I think a Reputation system would work really good. If you like someone, give them a good rating and their popularity goes up.
2.)Another thing I think would be cool is Spoiler tags. Their a great thing to have if you
have alot of Images in one spot.

I agree with that new feature, ken.

I'd like to see if your coding capabilities are up to the task for this!
I'm sure he can cook something up!
Also, brainwave. If we did comments for everything, it would be an interesting statistic to have posts and comments separate, so that you can see how many posts you've made (as always) and how many comments you've made. Some of those ratios would be pretty skewed, I'm sure. <.<

author=Darken link=topic=129.msg2065#msg2065 date=1184875472I'm sorry. I totally spaced it. I'll look into it more when I work on the site later today.
Oh and WIP, about my tutorial latin code error. When is it going to be fixed? :'(
Hm. Because I broke it. Will be fixed tonight.
Hide tags are great. They really help to break up large posts, like, say, for a game. I second this suggestion.
