HOW TO MAKE AN IMPERVIOUS "PROTECT" STATUS?

What I'm asking for is how to make a one-turn status where the characters is invincible for one turn.

I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

I guess it would be something like this:

When character uses 'Protect' command
Change state: character <Fake status> (1 turn duration)
-If character is <Fake status> afflicted
Change parameter: Def +999 - The Def the char currently has.
-If character is no longer afflicted.
Change parameter: Def -999 - The Def the char previously had.

I once did something like this and it worked. The real problem comes with how turns are handled on rm2k3. If either an enemy or character takes an action the 'Protect' effect will wear off, even if the character with it was not hit. So instead you may want to check the character HP trough variables every turn to see if it changed and then deactivate the skill...

Either way is not a perfect solution. I guess only if you equip a character with an uber item (999 def, all Attributes set to E, etc.) during battle, the character will still be able to take damage in one way or another. (And no, "Evade all attacks" doesn't evade all attacks either) ...But of course, this requires you to change to one piece of equipment and then change it back to the one the character previously had. And if you have, say, 200 shields in your game, it's just not going to be practical to code.

It misses for physical attacks. There isn't really anything (Reflect isn't what I want) to block generalized magic.

What I think I'd like is some way to change the element defense with a condition (which I'd add along with the evade physical). You could do that by skill, but then it lasts pretty much the battle. Or you can do it by changing class to one with a different element (basically immune to all for just X number of turns instead of the entire battle). So, more of a Shell effect.

Yeh, I know about that much. But no, there isn't a single turn thing.

I wish I knew enough about C++ code that I could just script this one.

A limitation of RPG Maker 2003 is that "turns" are counted by each action made by either a party member or an enemy (i.e. they are counted together). So calculating the Pokemon-like effect for exactly ONE turn would be very difficult if possible at all. I would suggest using a different program/engine if you wish to emulate this ability exactly, or you could think about why you need this skill specifically in your game in the first place. Could an alternate skill, which might be better suited for RPG Maker 2003, provide a slightly different effect for the same purpose?
