ALTERNATE URL FOR RMN TO GET AROUND WORK FILTERS
Posts
Just wondering if there's any chance you guys would consider setting up an alternate domain (like rpgmaker.ca or rpgmaker.co or something) for those of us who can't view RMN at work due to a filter. I work for a large corporation and unfortunately, RMN is blocked by said filter. I could check the site on my phone, but RMN isn't mobile friendly yet.
Domain names are pretty inexpensive but I'd be willing to sub if it meant getting an alternate url.

Wouldn't it just end up getting blocked like the current domain?

*shrugs* maybe? I know that sites like Neogaf have alternate domains that exist just to get around work filters.
sounds like a whole lot of trouble to go to. between them buying a domain and you just putting up with the fact that the site looks crummy on a phone, I know what I'd recommend.
there's nothing wrong with it. I tried RMN in the ipod as well and it's not exactly phone friendly as he said. So having it to go through work/school/uni filters would be extremely appreciated.

Completely blocked. I have went through numerous proxies and either they can't fully load RMN's features or blocked. I actually wrestled with the school system and in the end I ended up bringing my own wifi stick and plugging in with my laptop. But I don't always have funds for expensive cellphone internet.
Buying another domain costs $12 a year and it would take 5 minutes for anklyo to set it up to point to RMN. And if it meant me saving from spending 20$ a week and just donating to RMN, that'd be awesome :P

kind of awkward to get to Post History, but this isn't nearly as bad as I'd expected. just gotta zoom in a bit.
I'd take a screenshot on how it looks like on my phone while the options get squished down to a new row but I don't have a camera <_<
I might as well note, not all mobile phones have the same resolution.

Has even torbrowser failed you?
Why are we arguing about this again?
Never heard of it, but even if it does work I'm sure as hell don't want to login with my account using a proxy. It's stupid to rely on a proxy anyway, it's so damn slow --which doesn't help since the school internet is freaking slow already.

because there are often alternatives that people can use on their own? and you might as well explore them when something like this comes up?
if they're no good, they're no good, but don't get upset at people for trying.

Except people also have explored these alternatives. And I'm pretty sure I spent 4 hrs of break time everyday trying to research and break out of the school filters.
Sure there's UltraSurf but that's not a 100% guarantee since it's not like it works all the time. I'm just wondering why a completely legit recommendation is also being thrown down with unsafe/tedious methods like a proxy when it just makes our RMN browsing life easier.
also p.s nobody is upset but I don't see the point of what's wrong with the idea.

Is it wrong for me to even pose a simple question?
Edit: And further more, there's the cat and mouse issue...

oh, that was a general "you". I meant that people might as well bring these up, not that you should retry things for the fifth time.
what's the cat and mouse issue?

The proxy thing Emirpoen linked, Just gonna have to say that thing won't work on a workplace. I just asked a friend to try it out.
Cat and mouse: you find a way to circumvent something and whoever is blocking whatever finds a way to block said circumvention. It's even worse when wildcards are put into play. Ban evasion is a good example of this.
author=Archeia_NessiahWell, we can scratch proxies, tor browsers, thus leaving domain names, though how long that'll hold is very iffy, given the cat and mouse i was refering to. On the bright side, I don't think RMN's IP address would be blocked unless RMN has its very own IP address, but I'm willing to believe that it shares an IP address with sites that are more "work" appropriate.
