ALTERNATE URL FOR RMN TO GET AROUND WORK FILTERS
Posts
author=mawkFor now, yes. However, that could be changed pretty easily. How long before said blockers catch on?
well neogaf's thing still works, right?
Edit: For the record, I'm not saying don't do this, I;m just warning you of what could happen. a lot of this depends on the ignorance of your blocker and your ability to stay one step ahead.
...um, may I add that some of us don't have mobiles that are capable of web browsing? I'm quite happy to have my phone be a phone, address book, shitty mini camera and tetris game all up, so I'm never going to splash out on something that's also a mini-computer and music player all in one.
I'm sure I'm not the only one? I think the idea of another domain is pretty legit, considering the small price (I'd be more than happy to fund this myself if need be) and minimal work needed to provide such a thing...

my phone's internet is so awful, and the fact that im using a tracfone only makes me avoid using it for internet altogether, so I can understand the pain you guys browsing with a phone are feeling.
aren't some urls blocked because of the words in the name. so even if it you change the .whatever, the RPG in the name could still trigger a block.
also, i doubt anybody wants to hear this but this topic is a little one-sided: maybe you shouldn't be accessing RMN at school/work xD the blocks are put in for a reason. in most cases circumventing them puts strain on the network and at some places can get you in trouble. like was already mentioned, they can just figure out the new method and block it. there's some IT guy somewhere who can see what your doing. even plugging in a usb device gets noticed.
the games and posts will be there when you get home, but by all means continue this endeavor :)

Why do you want to surf RMN while at work and risk getting fired???
(Lol I'm half-joking there)
But in seriousness, like Link said, blocks are there for a reason. If a website is blocked, it's meant to be blocked. You don't want to hack your way just to access a blocked website and risk getting fired because of security breaches, you know?

I remember getting free time at school and being allowed to use the internet as we wished... as long as we didn't visit certain sites. Which really sucked. The same could be said of work.
Overtime where you just have to be in the workplace by not do anything... hm, done that before. Watching the store on a very slow day while you wait for someone to return... done that too. A few times I've been asked to 'just sit here for a while - read or browse or something, I'll be back'. It depends on the work place.
Hell, one place used to give me hour-long breaks. I didn't like my colleagues so I just surfed the internet. It was allowed, though some sites were blocked - not for any good reason either. When asked why a certain site was blocked I go the answer "Oh, it sounded like a spam site, so I blocked it." Yeah... Said site was a small forum that I was involved in at that time.

Yeah, I would imagine a good filter wouldn't even care about the top level domain name, it would just match everything before it.
I don't really know what it takes to redirect people around to different sites, but you can get free subdomains and stuff, like co.nr or whatever. Something like that may work.

Exactly this. I said earlier as well that while in school I had 4 hour long breaks and I always do my schoolwork in advance or finish way too fast. So...
As for work, I actually worked before in a workplace and I had so much free time because I finished work and waiting for new ones as they take care of something. It just happens.
