WHAT FINAL FANTASY MONSTER WAS YOUR FAVORITE?

you can't hotlink pictures from creativeuncut. either url-link the page they're on, or save them to your computer and upload them somewhere else.
and Kat, I think that would make this topic much more interesting! that's the entire reason I brought it up. Final Fantasy monsters are largely just dull and they tend to reuse their designs like crazy.
'cept gogmagog. (who got a palette swap in the same game buuuuuut whatevs)

You have a point, though FF does have SOME good ones! All right, let me think on this one, I have many favorites and they are very cool~ :D I have to walk my dog and grab some crickets and mice for the reptiles, so will post when I return!
you are right Kat, however i already said what i liked from final fantasy series.
a discussion is like a curve, at some point, its direction may change. in this case i am helping to expand its content. OP is the one, who control the flow of discussion, since he didn't replay to say the otherwise, i will assume there is no problem with expanding the discussion.
i agree with mawk that it's better to discuss the hole concept of enemy art work rather than final fantasy monsters.
@Kaliesto: i am sorry, if i posted other non ff monster. if you don't agree with showing other type of enemies, just tell us.
aizen in its final form from bleach
second boss of persona 4
btw mawk as soon as i noticed what type of monster you like i was going to show you gogmagog from ff13-2, you just have a different preference.
anima from ffx 10 may help you Kat :P
edit: hysteric lough of Kefka is still in my head. i would never be able to forget that. i really didn't like Kefka but strangely i still remember him.

Neo Shinryu was really difficult in all of his reincarnations.

this is totally true. I like things that look like they have a lot of pent-up energy, or are exploding somehow, and things that are "cute, but with teeth" as someone once put it. a lot of designs in 13 and 13-2 seem as if SE decided they'd go back to the weird, complex designs they had a lot of back in the 2D Amano days, and in a few cases (Gogmagog, Cie'th) that whole idea translates really well to 3D.
I tend way more toward "cute, but with teeth" in my own work, but as I get better at making things look kinetic I hope to branch out to that other large area of enthusiasm.
No other RPG monster is as iconic and simplistic as this:
Dragon Quest is one of the few games where I felt like the monster designs were very memorable and full of personality. I never really got that from the final Fantasy creeps.

I like these guys a bit better:
Dragon Quest's whole tone is pretty refreshing. I think if I ever really got into it I'd want to do it in Japanese, though -- the puns in English are super-terrible and I am constantly just all ":I" at my DS when I'm playing 9.
the monster design is really cheerful and playful, though, and I like that. they're not monsters you can look at and say "oh, I understand what this creature is doing here and why", but they have tons of charm. I think of them as the sort of things a kid would draw, and I don't mean that in a bad way.

Emerald and Ruby Weapon from FF 7 were probably the hardest
optional bosses that I had to defeat. Double casting
Knights of the Round and Phoenix every turn is the way to
go. Plus final attack attached to Phoenix. even then its pretty
difficult.
This may be odd, but I particularly like the Mummy. It isn't interesting in it's design, but I really dig the pose.

if you dont like ff monsters create a new topic for all monsters. i think ff monsters have a wide enough range that it can have its own topic if it wants. if you disagree then don't post here instead of hijacking the topic to make it what you want it to be.

I have a sneaking suspicion that people would spit noise at me if I made a new topic, too.
instead, can you name a good reason why this shouldn't be for monsters in general? there are only a few iconic final fantasy creatures, and with the way people are just posting one-liners or pictures without going into why, we're going to burn through them very quickly and this topic will only get more monotonous than it is.
monster design is something I'm very enthusiastic about, and the things to discuss in relation to it are nearly endless. maybe I'll have to make a new topic after all if I want people to actually think, instead of posting pictures of cactuars for seventeen pages.

the only person who can object to how this discussion flowing up is the OP himself, creating a new topic with the name of
"what type of monster you like non ff and ff alike" after a topic with
"what type of monster you like in final fantasy"
is silly, can be considered as spamming and is also hijacking the idea behind this topic. so Link_2112, you really didn't suggest an alternative way.
edit: however if OP dose not agree, then others dose not have any choice but to create another topic. so why not try to come to an agreement before making another topic?
at the same time posting other monsters pictures and disusing non ff monsters is impolite (you should know that this is pointed to myself, i was the one who insisted mawk to show some pictures, i made a mistake and i am sorry.). except if you asked the OP before ahead.

the only reason you need - because that's what the OP called the topic.
rmn isn't a league of intelligence, where we discuss only the finer things in gaming in great detail. there is nothing wrong with spewing one-liners or posting an image of something we like without writing a dissertation explaining why.
if you're so enthusiastic, then create a topic. you are allowed. then you can decide how it should play out. this topic already sucks too much to be turned into a legit topic about monster design.
although i have a sneaking suspicious you would prefer that people would spit noise at you so you can spit back :) in any case, you're wrong. there would be no "backlash" over the creation of a serious topic such as monster design. in fact, i don't recall any of those in recent past so it would probably be quite welcome.

Oh yeah? Well I have a sneaking suspicion that you're about to get a ban from my secret admin control panel, troll.
