Nothing reveals Humanity so well as the games it plays. A game of betrayal, where the most suspicious person is brutally murdered? How savage.

Mafia (Russian: Ма́фия, also known as Werewolf) is a party game created in the USSR by Dimitry Davidoff in 1986, modelling a battle between an informed minority (the mafia) and an uninformed majority (the townspeople). Players are secretly assigned roles: either mafia, who know each other; or townspeople, who know only the number of mafia amongst them. In the game's night phase the mafia covertly "murder" a townsperson. During the day phase, all of the surviving players debate the identities of the mafia and vote to eliminate a suspect. Play continues until all of the mafia have been eliminated, or until the mafia outnumber the townspeople. A typical game starts with seven townspeople and two mafiosi.
'The Werewolves of Miller's Hollow' is a card game based on the Russian Mafia game. This forum mafia game will be based on the card game and use many of its power roles, as well as many Vanilla Townies and Goons, because, let's face it, We haven't had a game with predominantly Vanillas and Goons in a while.
"The story of our city, Miller's Hollow, has been passed on from father to son, mother to daughter for 30 generations. When our grand city was no more than a little hamlet, it was threatened by one of its inhabitants, who, after a run-in with the wolf spirit in the near forest, was cursed to lose his sanity and became victim of the illness called Lycanthropy. Every 28 days, when the full moon shone brightly at night, he would lose conciousness to turn into a black wolf. At that moment, he would roam the city, and would only turn back into a human being after having slaughtered one of Miller's Hollow's citizens. This continued for a certain amount of months, after which, one full moon, the villagers were able to wound the werewolf during the night, cutting off one of his paws. The wounded werewolf fled into the forest. The next day, a town meeting was organized. Only one villager, the woodworker, did not attend. When the town was searched for him, he was eventually found at home, lying in bed, clutching the bloody stump where his right hand had once been. The werewolf was immediately brought to the town square and hanged, but not before uttering a curse. 'When I am gone, the moon will freeze and shine down on you in full glory each night. My blood now runs through several of you, and by the next full moon, my legacy will be passed on, my work completed by those who you believe to be your friends...' After the townsfolk hanged the werewolf, everything was quiet for a month, until someone died... again. And as the woodworker had prophesized, the next few nights the moon continued to be full. The villagers, unable to discover who the new werewolves were, decided to tie one of their children to the gallows on the town square each, where they were slaughtered by the werewolves. When only the daughter of the sheriff was left, he decided to lie in wait at night and try to unmask and kill the werewolves..."

I died miserably in the last mafia game (which is still going, sort of) so let's see if I can do better. I'll play too.
i'm in this game and there's no way we're getting sixteen players. even if we do at least three of them will have to be modkilled for not posting.
I think this is an ambitious game size, but I'll join.
(Had to pull people from off RMN to fill ranks, and at least two others bailed for irl reasons! Good luck!)

Recall, if you will, "Death Note mafia". Number of players-16 number of modkills-3

I may very well shrink it down to 12, but that'll cut into the amount of vanillas we have, and I was aiming for many of them.
why do people not like being vanilla
also what you should do is wait until signups are obviously not coming in any more (you will know) and then close signups and make the setup for however many players that is.

Because vanilla has the very same gameplay from game to game and one less phase to play. I don't like overpowered roles, but some tactical role which makes game more interesting is great.
I remember once playing on IRC where everyone was a vigilante. If only one had stayed their hand during the first night the villagers would have won.
But of course no one did.

Such a game would be awful to host, but Dudesoft and Cave could probably handle it.
Shinan, the werewolves need your help!
Shinan, the werewolves need your help!
That was the best game ever, Shinan.
IIRC the largest number of players I ever got on my Werewolf IRC bot was 22. That was an EPIC game.
Then after that everyone joined for another and I made everyone an Assassin without telling them. Chaos ensued.
