PORTS POSSIBLE?

So i own RMVX and was wondering if there is a theoretical way to port the games to a system, like wii or PS3, like homebrew? It is a theoretical question, really because i saw there is a RM2k/2k3 version out for Wii homebrew that allows you to play those games on the wii^^
No, and I seriously hope that no one on this site will support doing that crap. :|

I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

Why the hate?

But no.

You would need to put your game and the rtp on a disk.
Plus you would have to program the disk to be read by
the system, and program the controls as well. The system
would probably require hardware modification (some people
know how to do this.)

It would be complicated, but may be possible if your
a super duper computer programmer.

It would be could if RPG Maker made some
sort of deal with Microsoft or Sony though.
They would never allow that because the games we make would be better than theirs.

^ This.

It would destroy the entire industry.

Having a signature is too mainstream. I'm not part of your system!

You want portability? Don't use an engine that caters to amateurs and hobbyists. The really devoted people eventually go on to use actual engines. Also, the majority of games made on rpgmaker are way below the quality of commercial games.
Once again, this already works with RPGMaker 2000/2003 so I am sure there would be a way. But my question gave me more answers than I anticipated. The engativity here is astounding. Perhaps it is a good thing I don't hang around here more often.

Thank you for your time, those who really did think about the topic and cared to give a serious answer. It is much appreciated.
Portability isn't a feature inherit to RM2k(3), it's a case of somebody making an engine for a platform that takes the database and map files the RM2k(3) editor creates through reverse engineering. It's... kinda~ like emulation.

afaik nobody has shown interest in making an engine made to play RM VXP Ace games for other platforms.

@Link: Lol, you know it.

@Ezekiel: I only saw one person being negative? And I'm not sure what his deal is. It's not clear to me at all how or why being able to make games for systems other than Windows is "crap that no one on this site should support". I think maybe he misunderstood the question?

But anyway yeah the RPG Maker engines create Windows executables. You would need a different engine for a different OS. Many game engines are capbale of compiling programs for multiple platforms, but RPG Maker is not. I heard some nutcases were trying to make their own engine for Android that worked exactly like RPG Maker 2003 and could run games you made in the Windows version of RPG Maker 2003, but last I heard they'd spent years on it and weren't done yet. (Are you saying they're done now? News to me if so.)
They did release a version for Wii, not sure how advanced that is though. I was jsut asking if you believe something like this was possible for VX, really, that's all. Pure curiosity^^
I can't find any sort of Wii or other platform official release of RM2k(3). The best I could find was a Youtube video of EasyRPG running a RM2k game on a Wii emulator. EasyRPG is a separate tool from RM2k(3) but is being made to play RM2k(3) games and it has multi-platform support including the Wii. Is that what you're thinking about?
It is. You can download it on WiiBrew. It still requires a bunch of work but for what I have seen (never tested it) it works quite well.

Perhaps Enterbrain should do a Wii U port of VX or VXA officially, since the gamepad would make designing the games quite similar to the PC version, really. They could even add in real time developing, play the game on the TV while you create it on the gamepad.

Seriously, why isn't that a thing?

If I recall, Enterbrain did create console versions of RPG Maker (RPG Maker 1, 2 and 3) on PS1 PS2 and PS3. RPG Maker 3, which originated from PS2, recently came out on PS3 this year. I guess you can call those ports?

The only thing though is that the games are not transferable between PS1/2/3 and PC.
You guys all say Sony. What about Xbox? That's made by Microsoft, and if we could get them to stop thinking they need to keep upgrading and upgrading (I personally don't want a Windows 7, only to be forced again when we have Windows 9 or something, and have to guess about compatibility, since they're trying to phase out desktop and .exe running because "everybody" likes Apps. If I liked Apps, I'd get an iPad. If you wanna compete, be competitive and allow one per houshold (I currently have to reinstall not once but about three or four times) since Apple computers tend to be expensive) to keep up with Apple, and that there is a viable gaming culture that should actually have built-in compatibility for RpgMaker regardless the system (so if they switch over to Apps entirely, anything .exe automatically runs, instead of "oh btw, ALL rpgmakers are now obsolete, tough luck guys, we only stock Apps now").

IMHO Enterbrain is sitting on a goldmine there. If they create a community with an RPGMaker that supports multiplatform crossovers that is.

Imagine a community of RPGMaker people who all own the same software, maybe VXA because it is the latest one. YOu can put your game on SD card or upload it to the RPGMaker server and the PS3 user can play the game, the X360 user can play the game, the WiiU user can play the game... All they need to change is the way the executable is read, really. The rest can stay the same. I know it is technically possible, I mean we can create CGI movies with a game engine now dont tell me its not possible to port VX or VXA to all consoles to cross share games...
Hey... maybe a DynRpg patch can do just that.

Or something else, like having a copy of the exe converted to another port's format (I think PS2 uses .iso images).
