I'm having trouble with text in the text box wrapping to fit in the text box. Big chunks of my text are just cut out. Is there a way to fix this, and if so, is there a way to do a permanent fix where I don't have to edit every single text box to wrap the text?
You just need to learn the limits. I'm so use to it by now I automatically just go to the next line or start a new message command.
There is no way to have it correctly wrap your text for you, but there are ways to prevent it from happening.
First would be to know how many characters can fit in a single line. I don't know the number, but I think LockeZ does. That number is less if you are using facesets. You would have to consciously count as you type.
I remember someone saying that they write their dialogue in notepad with a fixed width font like Courier. I forget the method to tell the edge, I think you can resize the window so it auto wraps at the exact size of the message window. The font in the editor is not fixed width, so the length will vary based on how many i's, .'s and other thin letters you use(or fatties).
Another way, that I'm not too sure about, is there is some kind of patch to the editor that shows a line where the text gets cut off. I seem to remember hearing about something like that, but I don't remember what it would be or if it even exists. It's kinda like a vague memory, maybe I dreamt it up. Who knows.

I haven't done anything but map in 2k3 for some years now...but it seemed like there was some rule of characters like:
32 possible chars a line
28 letters a line
or something like that...

Well, thanks. Not really the answers I was hoping to get but helpful anyway.
Np, but I'm pretty sure you asked a question that doesn't have an answer. This is the best your gonna get. An indication where the line is, not a way to have it auto wrap your text.
Would there perhaps be a freeware rpg maker with at least the quality or above of RPG Maker 2003 available that would allow for text wrapping?
Is that really a reason to abandon 2k3? It's not much effort to prevent text cutoff. But as far as I know, no. Then again, I don't look for other engines. Even if another engine has text wrap, learning to use it might be more work than dealing with text cutoff. So I can't see the logic in switching just for that.
Well, I'm looking for the best freeware available regardless to work with for free before I purchase one.
There's a text utility (forget the name) that does just this. It even accounts for with/without faceset.
Screw it and just have short lines.
Better to underdo, and later merge, then chop stuff and have to add more boxes.
After I messed with the brightness, I noticed a line on the textbox. It's the cutoff point. From there, figure it out by feel.
