SUPER SMASH BROS. MELEE VS BRAWL.

Brawl is by far superior, no outright cloned characters, a great selection of characters with barely any bad characters(lets face it, some of the characters from melee weren't too great.) Tripping isn't entirely random either. The brawl ball also ups the game greatly, allowing for moves for characters you missed and a great new element to the game. The assist trophies add even more to the game and allow the addition of more characters much like the pokeballs. Then you can build your own amazing lvls, as well as a greater adventure mode wich gives it an old side scroll fighter feel.

For the few bad aspects of brawl, its got tons of great aspects, and is an overall improvement from melee.

The action of brawl is a bit slower. I think that's better, takes away button-mashing and adds a bit more strategy. Gives heavy hitters a chance. Most human beings don't have supercomputer-esque ability to perceive time and react.
I had a hard time playing Brawl at first. I was pretty good at Melee and the fact that I could play with the same characters against a guy who hadn't played Smash Brothers since the original and not win easily. But then I stopped playing for a few months and I came back to it I was better. I have no idea why. I'm pretty sure it's a better game than Melee, though, overall. It still feels like there are some obvious tiers, though, (can anyone actually play Olimar? Snake? ROB? Ike is slow, but does it really matter?)

But yeah, the biggest problem with Brawl? The Jigglypuff with the flower on her head is TOO RED! God, this drives me nuts, and I can't play her without the flower.
My friend kicks ass as Olimar. The bastard. He is frustratingly annoying to fight when he plays as Olimar.

Actually, from what I've heard, Olimar is one of the top-tier characters. Also, none of those characters suck, they just play almost completely differently than the rest of the cast.

I've played as all the characters a fair amount, and the only one I've had a hard time picking up is R.O.B. (Lucas is a close second). What I've always loved about Smash Bros. is that every character has potential to be good, depending entirely on how you use them. Once when I was playing Pichu at a convention, one of my opponents actually said it was scary watching me fight as it. :o

So, people can divide this game into tiers however they like, say "this character sucks" or "this guy's UNSTOPPABLE," but what it really boils down to is how well you can wield their abilities to your advantage.

I'm pretty good at Brawl but my friend is great at it, he also uses Olimar. We had to gang up 3 to one on him to finally beat him, even then one of us was eliminated and one of us had two lives and I had one live.
Olimar is actually good? I never would have guessed. Of course I've barely even played the game (no one to play with) and don't read anything online, so I guess I haven't had time to find out this stuff yet.

I've played Olimar a few times and he's pretty tough. Lucas is my boy, though.
Lucario for me. But Olimar is pretty cool.

Who's my top character? Hint:

He fights for his friends, and you'll get no sympathy from him. Prepare yourself!

... Snake?
i prefer brawl than melee. brawl has new features and new characters (some of my favorite). i just use melee to do the black hole glitch :D
I am fond of Pikachu, Pit, Sonic and Megaman.

Ike!

He has really cheesy victory slogans: "I fight for my friends!" and "you'll get no sympathy from me."
Ike has one of the lamest character personalities in Fire Emblem. If he wasn't a complete beast statwise, he'd be absolutely awful.
I like them both, on the same level because Melee had better stages, and Brawl has more characters. Also there aren't as many clones of characters in Brawl as there were in Melee.
