Hey, everyone! I just joined up after getting RPG Maker VX Ace (as well as all DLC) from the Steam sale. Great deal! After trying a few games and messing around with the Lite version, I just couldn't resist!

I've been watching the tutorials by MVisioned on Youtube and they really explain a lot. Even after going through all of the help resources, I'm still learning a heck of a lot.

I had this idea to possibly make a game adaptation of a novel I recently published, called The Journey to Atlantis. I'm definitely going to mess around with the thing first and probably do a small game that's simple, just to get the hang of it.

I know there's going to be a lot of information to acquire, but, to get me started, what else should I know?

Welcome to RMN!

This is a good place to started:

New to RMN?

This is an article on gam making:

SO YOU WANT TO BE A GAME DEVELOPER?

And here is guide to downloadable VX Ace guide with sample game:

RMVXAce Guide

That ought to be enough to get you started. There's plenty more, but once you get to those issues, I'm sure you look them up or ask about them.

I just recently got Ace myself (I got lucky and won a giveaway) and will be learning to try to make a game myself using it. Starting simple is probably a good idea, since there is a lot things to learn, so getting the basics down seems to be the first task at hand. It is good that you already have in mind an idea of what you might want to bring to life in the future.

Anyway, feel free to ask around. There's probably somebody around who can help you.

More reading for me as well ...
Thanks for the responses, guys. And thanks for the extra resources. Quick question right off the bat. I can't seem to find the DLC that I downloaded through Steam. They don't seem to be in the origin folder where the game is. Any help on that?
A new guy?! Oh noez, tradition is threatened! Someone get the torches! Just kidding. lol. It was sweet you were able to nab Ace with all the dlc.

So far I only have Ace and the futuristic tile set.
Okay, nevermind my previous question, I found them. Although it presents another slight problem. It showed up on my regular hard drive, while I have Steam (and the games/content) installed on an external Hard Drive.

I've got Steam and all the games downloaded with it on a seperate hard drive attached via USB. I kind of want it to be on my main computer hard drive now, and was just wondering what the best way to do that would be.

I'm not sure if I can just paste the folder over. I think it may cause some problems since that wouldn't be the place it was "installed." I don't want to lose the save data of my games or my content. I wouldn't mind having to download Steam and/or all of the games over again, as long as I can salvage my saves and content, if that's to be the case.

So how do I go about doing this?
Thanks in advance.

Moving Steam Installation Location

Sweet, thanks a bunch! I guess I could have probably found that if I had searched it myself. What a dumdum I am!

Actually, you got lucky in a sense ...I was trying to find out where my Ace installation was in my computer but couldn't. Turned out I installed in a different drive, which I had completely forgotten. I found your answer accidentally in the process of trying to search for mine.

I had people say I was going to fail at finishing my novel. Granted, that was in high school and it did eventually take me about ten years, but dammit, I did it.
