When I subscribe to a game I always edit out IMAGES. However many times when I see a notice for a game, it contains PNG's. Arent these images? Unless the definition is different than images, I am thinking I wont see notices containing them.
Also I tried deleting a game...Zephyr Skies:Winter Mage but instead the wallpaper pops up and wont allow the deletion. Not only that, but now I have THREE of them that I cant delete.
Lastly, I mentioned this before in a PM to one of the RMN gods. I was playing a game I really enjoyed but apparently the creator decided to simply disappear and in fact, it has completely disappeared because when I type in the name it wont even come up.
Apparently that is an option for the developer.
Ought there not be a definite understanding between creator/RMN that if a game goes a certain length of time without questions/concerns being answered, someone gets in touch and finds the disposition and makes a notice letting followers of the game know what to expect?
Thanks, Roy

What are you asking? That if someone has a game where a player is posting a question, and the developer doesn't answer after a long time, they should be hunted down and forced to answer? Or at least explain why they aren't answering?
Either way, the answer is no. There is no obligation for the creator to ever even come back to this page after posting, and there is no way you can force them to do anything about it.
Instead lets impose an understanding between downloader/creator. You're own your own, sucker!
1 - .pngs are image files, yes. It's odd that you still receive notices for them after editing them out, though. Are you sure you're saving your edits? (Also, who doesn't like seeing image updates?)
2 - That's an odd issue. You tried to delete it from your subscriptions, right? Hm... very odd. I just added and deleted it from my own subscriptions but it seems to have worked fine.
What browser are you using? Maybe try Firefox or Chrome if you're not already? Have you tried clearing your cache? Did you click the update button at the bottom after hitting the delete button next to the game? Try re-subscribing and deleting again.
If you've done all this it's most likely a bug of some kind. You might have to wait on Kentona or Anky to check it out.
3 - No. If people want to leave, it falls on them to make an announcement post on their games page to let their subscribers know. A lot of the time people leave without saying goodbye. Staff can't know if a game is abandoned, if the creator will come back or not in the future or why it was deleted. In the case that they remove all their images/information, it probably is removed from the game list since it no longer meets the requirements of being a game page.
Remember that for some people this is a stop-gap hobby. They find the program, mess around with it for a while, then leave for whatever reason. Maybe they get bored, maybe they lose internet connectivity, maybe they forget about the site, maybe there are changes in their lives that make it hard to keep up the hobby... there's a lot of reasons why people leave. It's not up to RMN to keep tabs on people and their games.
There's been a lot of people who disappeared over the years, leaving behind the broken carcasses of promising and highly anticipated games. It's always a sad thing to see but it's something we all have to accept. Remember what might have been fondly, draw inspiration from it and move on. Granted, there are some people and games that come back after years of not being seen, but it's better not to dwell on dreams that fell by the wayside.

What a butthole. Did I imply anything like hunt down and force?
Sucker yourself, what a rude little prick you must be in real life to react to a simple question.

Thanks for a reasonable response to my question.
And what you say makes total sense, but maybe there should be an obligation. If a creator DOES disappear then there is no communication between them and the players. It seems such a simple thing.
Also yes concerning the inability to remove the game, I did those very things suggested.
Once again thank you for the time it took to address my questions.
The obligation falls on the creator's head, not RMNs. People have left and come back without letting anyone know many times. Usually a person will change a game to cancelled if they aren't going to finish it. We staff can't know whether someone is gone for good, whether they mean their game to remain unfinished or not, and policing such a thing would be impossible.
Therefore it's likely to never happen. They have the choice to mark their games as cancelled or hiatus, so it falls to them to do so. That's as much responsibility as the site needs to provide at this time.

Thank you....it wasnt a criticism or attempt to lay blame ( especially when there was no blame to begin with ). I merely thought that myself and probably others felt frustrated when this happened and what recourse if any was available or might be implemented.
In any case, I would think the creator/developer might take it upon themselves to keep players in the loop. After all we honor you guys by playing the games you create. We often get involved and even obsessed when a game is good and interact with each other in posts. We WANT your games to succeed.
Thanks.

Sucker yourself, what a rude little prick you must be in real life to react to a simple question.
haha And that's how you react to a mildly sarcastic response? I didn't mean to get your panties in a bunch.
http://rpgmaker.net/forums/topics/13509/
I think you're just an impatient person. Most of the time you claim devs to be "missing", it's only been a few days or weeks. You seem to expect devs to respond right away.
This isn't a big problem, and it's not one that has a solution. It's just one of those things you have to accept.
My panties arent in a bunch...you were a rude little shite to even respond that way in the first place. And for no reason except to be cute. Why did you even feel it necessary to offer a "mildly sarcastic response" in the first place? I saw you won some sort of contest and without even knowing you, I was going to PM you and congratulate you. In fact, I will do so now because an accomplishment is an accomplishment after all and no doubt you did earn it. Congratulations.
In the second place it isnt a matter of impatience. For weeks I and others posted remarks and questions and there was never a response. I even sent a PM to say I hoped he was ok. I dont ever expect a developer to respond "right away". I maybe have a better idea how life steps in and does funny things to peoples intentions and that often there arent any good solutions. I certainly have learned that life is shit full of things we have to accept.
Maybe you are a whizbang wonder boy in creating games but your people skills suck ass.

My people skills are not on trial and I wasn't trying to utilize them. This has nothing to do with that contest or my whizbangery. Why even bring that stuff up? You trying to pick a fight or something? Geez.
You are suggesting something foolish, that RMN should do *anything* about these rouge devs who discontinue to post.
This makes it sound like you believe that it shouldn't be an option. "RMN has allowed the game to be posted, but apparently the dev can choose to remove their game".
I'm not going to sugarcoat the fact that I think this is a dumb idea for the sake of "people skills" in a random topic in a random forum. And just because I think your idea is dumb, it doesn't mean I think you are dumb.
Anyways, you got your answer, again.
