TOP TEN TOPIC: SONGS YOU'D LIKE TO SEE IN ROCK BAND

Pages: 1
Now that Rock Band is out for the Wii (and I think out in Eurasia), I am making a Top 10 list of songs I'd love to play in Rock Band. The game is godly, by the way - if you haven't played it, do so now.

I guess the only rule is that it can't be a song already in the game (or available for download) AND the song has to be able to be played with Vocals, Guitar, Bass and Drums.

How did I miss this one?
I think you guys are missing the point of Rock Band. You have to think of songs that rock WAY TOO HARD BEYOND AN ACCEPTABLE AMOUNT.

Alexisonfire - Waterwings/ We are the Sound/ Charlie Sheen VS Henry Rollins (Moneen Crossover)
The Tragically Hip - New Orleans is Sinking
Pearl Jam - Go
Wolfmother - Woman
Foo Fighters - Stacked Actors/ Fingernails (duh...)
Colin James - Voodoo Thing
I Mother Earth - One More Astronaut
Derek and the Dominos - Leila
Minus the Bear - Double Vision Quest
Spinal Tap - Break Like the Wind

Funny, I was thinking of songs THAT WOULD BE FUN TO ROCK OUT.
Ah, therein lies the rub. Songs that are 'fun' are not always songs that 'rock' the hardest. Songs that are fun to listen to do not usually translate well to playability, and viche-versae. Consider "Sweet Child of Mine", where a lot of people enjoy the melody, but infact the song is at a relatively slow pace for Guns'n'Roses and is infact quite repeptetive in its structure and riffage. For a competent musician to play, this song could quickly become a bore.

Simply said, it might be fun to listen to, but it doesn't rock hard enough.
I disagree. "Sweet Child o' Mine" placed #37 on Guitar World's list of the "100 Greatest Guitar Solos." It also came in at number three on Blender's 500 Greatest Songs Since You Were Born, and at number 196 on Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Songs of All Time. In March 2005, Q magazine placed it at number 6 in its list of the 100 Greatest Guitar Tracks. The introduction's famous riff was also voted number-one riff of all-time by the readers of Total Guitar magazine. It was also in Rolling Stones 40 Greatest Songs that Changed the World. It places number 7 in VH1's "100 Best Songs of the 80s", and placed #210 on the RIAA Songs of the Century list. On a recent BBC poll, the song was voted to have the "greatest guitar riff ever".

I can totally rock out to the greatest guitar riff ever.
Dragon Force: Through The Fire and Flames
Van Halen: Hot for Teacher (this one would be AWESOME)
Tenacious D: Ending Song (never going to happen, not only is it not some old rock song, but it swears far too much for the game)
AC/DC: Thunderstruck
Nickelback: Animal
Rise Against: Worth Dying For
Rise Against: Bricks
Nirvana: Smells like Teen Spirit
Team America: Montage Song(Hey, they did timmy and the lords of the underworld, so why not...)
Michael Jackson: Beat It

This list is completely unordered, but honestly, I think Beat It would be amazing after watching that live video. It would just work ever so well, and it is a nice old song.

SOme of the songs listed would obviously need a double kick pedal on the drumset, such as hot for teacher, and most definately TTFAF.

I see Kentona, but since when was what people like the most an idicator of what rocks the hardest? Saying that something rocks just because its popular (or even that its popular because it rocks) is a faulty association. There have been plenty of popular rock songs that do not "rock" at all.
I would even argue that Sweet Child of Mine doesn't deserve nearly as much praise as it recieves. I don't like the song. Its a bore to play, a bore to listen to. It shouldn't be in video games. And also because everyone likes it, its no longer cool to like it, so now I hate it even more than before for the fact that everyone likes it. That makes me rebellious and thus cooler than hollow conformists who like it.

To sum it up, I'm cooler than Kentona, the song is overrated. And yes, Hot For Teacher would be right shiny.
The will of the majority defines what rocks and what doesn't. The will of the people is how we define democracy, and this nation, one nation under God, is what makes us a shinning beacon of light and hope on this Earth. Do you hate democracy, Blitzen? Are you that unpatriotic? Do you hate freedom?

To sum it up, Blizten is a unpatriotic, democracy-hating, bleeding heart evil man. You shouldn't listen to what he has to say.
I am all for democracy but let us not forget that it was a democratic government that elected the Nazi party into power. Are you saying that because the people chose the Nazis as thier leader that the Nazis rock? Is that what you're saying?

Excuse me, mien heir, but I'll never bow to the will of the majority simply because it is so. There is no "will of the majority" defining what rocks, and what rocks is something that is, I think, objective and real, defined by the emotional and physical response of a listener and a musician to the song being played. There is also an objective method of analysis for song composition, so that someone can look at the structures of a song and determine if it is well (and creatively) constructed or not, thus adding bearing to thier rocks/doesn't rock argument.
