I know zero about the war. But Abe Lincoln said "Drop beats not bombs." so I'm against it. (But seriously no war)
Happy shouldn't have brought this topic up in the first place. Not to mention he only had his OP to date in this topic. He should have known this sort of thing would happen. Just saying.

Bill Maher: Democrat, opposed the intervention.
John McCain: Republican, supported the intervention.
I think I caught a troll bait... :P I was surprised to see Bill Clinton supporting the war, though. But then again, Obama has yet to make the final call.
Sigh. You pick the TINY minority of Democrats who oppose this war, and the TINY minority of Republicans who support it.
The vast, vast majority of support comes from the Democrat party.
And no, not troll bait. Not every opinion that differs from yours is a troll attempt.
This thread just might be a contender for the most flagrantly awful RMN thread ever created. We are already well beyond the event horizon and are diving straight into the singularity. A singularity full of conspiracy theorists and dumb people.
(FYI, invading/bombing/nuking xyz country for the sake of political expediency is a shortsighted strategy.)

According to Michio Kaku, the singularity is the point where the laws of physics collapse and the equations of general relativity make no sense.

Wasn't the discussion supposed to be centered on Syria?
These are my thoughts on the whole situation:
1. We already have a tremendous debt to cover. Another war is only going to increase the financial burden.
2. Chemical weapons were used. I have my doubts on Assad's usage of them. Assad has a superior military force and was winning the conflict. Chemical weapons would be overkill and could potentially get the rest of the world involved. Why would he take an unnecessary risk?
3. Even if he did use them, why are other nations expecting the U.S. to take the charge? Is the United States the world police now?
4. U.S. security and interests are not being directly threatened by the events that are transpiring in Syria.
5. The U.S. has not offered a long term solution to Syria. Assuming we could get rid of the chemical weapons and Assad, what then? Assad's death would do nothing more than create a power vacuum. Where is the guarantee for stability in the region?
Yes! Points to you on this one Harmonic. Think back to when Bush was in office. Remember all the left wing celebrities who made a bunch of anti-war statements? They're strangely absent when Obama's proposing the idea of war. I've only heard a few and they've quietly protested on twitter. The criticism is far less vocal.

Yeah, cause that's what he was really talking about.
There is a 90% probability you are wrong just like always.
That is no surprise to me.

A singularity full of conspiracy theorists and dumb people. We are definitely there.
There is a 85% probability you are wrong like always.Hmm, that used to say 80% and there was a line about me returning to my shithole. I guess you realized how crazy that made you look.
That is no surprise to me.

If KERA World doesn't cover it, I'm out of the loop.
Well, since the last post was in 09/2013 and the thread has not been locked down by God.... :) I guess it's time to begin the battle all over again :)
I hope I ain't no warmonger, but if you have seen a beheading or mass killing video or what IS, ISIS or ISIL has been doing in Iraq and Syria, is there anyone who believes no other country should be taking part in their destruction?
