MAP DESIGN FUN! #1
Posts
I thought we could have a creative topic. Basically we try to make our own maps of a selected chipset. I'm thinking of doing a series of these topics every week or so. Note: this is not a contest, it is simply a test and group study on how each of us tackle a given chipset. Rules are, you can only use this chipset and can't edit it. You can however use lighting effects, charsets, whatever, but you must use the given chipset in each topic. There's no specific thing you have to do other than that, sky's the limit. Pretty simple.

This week we have a basic forest chipsets. Theres ALOT of vegatation and shit in this.
Edit: Chipset changed.

That chipset is near unusable, since the colors are all fairly alike, and the whole thing looks very grainy. The rooftops and brick are the only pieces unobscured. :-\
On the other hand... I certainly do like the idea.
Sorry for being cruel. ;)

Someone actually cares! SOMEONE IS ACTUALLY PRODUCING CREATIVE ENERGY! People! Just think of this as a screenshot topic...except you don't have to promise a game!
I have some time so i will participate in this and upload it later on. Prepare to most likely see the most horrifying map ever. ;D

Whoop DD! You NEVER EVER post any screens or maps.
@Darken: Yup, i'm up for this every week, creating maps is the best part of making a game. I'm alway makin 'em, don't even use them sometimes. Practice will make
Alright. Heres my map. For some reason the chipset stuffed up so i could only use lower layer of the chipset. :( YAY! i participated.
Did you click on the background color to make it transparent? And you say you've been using this program for years *tsk tsk* ;)
I would have entered this but it's the same tile Blind used for the first map contest here and I'd rather try something different then tackle the same tile again.

Well you could submit the one you gave to the contest if you're that lazy. :(

Look at the chipset I offered, see the brown color filling that SHOULD be invisible? After importing it, and having the image loaded up for preview. Click on the brown color and it'll start blinking, this will become transparent. This goes for any other resource.
Alright, i just used a friends computer to do this and i finally got the map working. I've altered it a bit as well to add more trees etc.

Was there a rule against using maps larger than 20x15?
Or are people just lazy?
Anyway... I think I might actually use the map I made...
