FLYING CREATURE AIRSHIP RPGM2K3

Hey everyone, it's me again!
I wanted to have the airship in my game be a flying creature. No biggie, i thought, but then i realized the graphic for landed Airships is the middle walking animation for the airship. The problem i am running into is that if i want the creature to look good landed, then when flying it looks really bad (going to a landed looking animation in between each flap), or when landed it has its wings out to the side and looks very awkward (no flying animal lands with their wings on the ground).
Any ideas? I hope i'm just missing some easy option somewhere or something.
Thanks for your time,

Can't you re-arrange the frames of the sprite so that the middle one looks landed and the side frames are flapping wings?
You might be able to have an event move to the location of the airship when it lands and be on top of it to change it's appearance, but that might not work very well.
You could...make the airship graphic invisible? and use a second event to imitate the appearance of an airship. Not sure how that would work, it's just a thought.
You could make a whole custom airship system, using terrain ID to determine passable tiles and where you can land. But that's no longer an easy option.

Have a common event check to see whether you're riding a vehicle (there's a checker in conditional forks). If you aren't, have it change the vehicle appearance to the closed wings sprite. When you go up to the vehicle in question to ride it, change the sprite back to the flying version. ^.^
Awesome, thanks guys. One of those will work i'm sure.
I think i'll first try the common event, if i can figure out how to set it up. The only common event i have is for Tents to work on fields and stuff, and i followed a tutorial for that. I think i can figure it out though.
