Hi guys, I figure I should set a topic up for my arty bits.
Sprite base I'm working on for a potential RMVXAce game I might make

Rick (main character of one of my comics, Arcadia) holding a Mega Drive pad
Pokemon Kanto Starters
Kingdom Hearts 3DS Sora
Avengers Iron Man (my best selling print at conventions)

These are really good, you might want to tag them though. Wouldn't want someone else taking credit for it.
Thanks. Fortunately these aren't full quality (which is most obvious in the reds of Iron Man) or full resolution versions. I also have the original PSDs showing the pencil stages etc and those all have creation dates etc in their metadata.
So I decided the base sprite I made does not suit the tone and style of the game I want to make and with no news on Ellenor's very promising template I got to work on a new base sprite. Here's the base and examples of characters made from it:

Also, female version:

My concern is that this base doesn't look like it's finished to a professional quality. I find it really easy to work with small, RM2k3 style sprites but these double size ones? I really struggle. It always seems like I can't get the balance between detail and leaving it to the viewer's imagination right. Maybe I'm just nuts though, who knows?

So apparently I'm mental. I've decided to set myself a weekly art challenge whereby I depict the most bizarre, ridiculous and/or hilarious thing I've heard that particular week. Here's week one, based on a work colleague saying “I want to get more views on my dating profile. Everyone around here’s horsey, maybe I should upload a picture of myself riding a dinosaur so more girls will like me. It’s basically the same thing right?”

Art Challenge weeks 2 and 3, explanations as to the stories behind these can be found at my website, http://www.sjwebster.net or DeviantArt http://sjwebster.deviantart.com/
